Inkandtatts’ Inner Thoughts (Random Comments #715)

Bananas are another thing that need banned since I found a spider in one box when I worked st the co-op when I was 18 😭
That would have been rather cool. I hope you had it collected by someone who knew about them.

Well firstly I nearly did a Hannah at the time and the store manager called pest control/environmental health at the time and they came out and of course closed the store and we got sent home. I was just the general assistant But no they didn’t kill it. it just looked blended in with the branch until it moved. 😭

I should hope they didn't. Most of the spiders that come over in banana boxes are pretty harmless. It should have gone to a zoo or a specialist.

I like spiders by the way just in case you couldn't tell... 🤣

I would highly think it went through the (then) process of checking the species, intel on it and the works and probably then on to maybe a Uni where they specialise in tropical species etc.
I gathered you did like them which just irks me because they’re awful, horrible and terrifying.

They really aren't any of those things. They actually perform a useful service to humankind unless you prefer being overrun by flies, mosquitoes, midges and clegs...

Except, you know, one of the deadliest spiders alive that occasionally hops a ride on a bunch of bananas.

Which spider did you have in mind?

We also import brazil nuts from Brazil and they're radioactive 😛
The Brazilian wandering spider. I’ve heard from a source that Luka is only 5’1. A bite from a wandering spider could spell the end of him

I looked that one up. It can have an interesting side effect on males apparently.

They're found on leaves though, not the bunches.

those usually come in the rotating spice rack handed out every Christmas. sounds about normal as you can get .

minus the everything spice... assuming your talking trader Joe's version. those that don't have a trader Joe's just use mccormicks or Costco's version. Aldi and Walmart have a version too...

my head says differently.

while most people enjoy the feeling of being on fire or the rush straight to the gut, many have un diagnosed issues with it. un diagnosed because they simply don't talk to the Dr about it.
speaking only for me. my issue was found when I did a limiting diet to help find triggers to my migraines. MSG and MSG heavy foods are instant migraine makers. as well as bananas.

that sounds bananas!

Cuz there not allowed sugar or spices. Good god Luka'd be carted off to British Alcatraz for buying lawrys...

* Tbc I like lawrys and it's in my rack, but it's not worth being shived over.

soooooo, what did they do with all the spice they got from the asian spice wars then????

tellin' me they got all that spice, & didn't even use it???? where'd it all go????

...this isn't discussed enough...

Because we are not obsessed with fast food like you lot.
@purplerose my spice rack would put yours to shame.

b...but wouldn't beans on toast be, y'know... food that's fast????

🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴

social-ital norm*. spices were sought after for kings queens court and upper class. once they became wide spread and easier to get and were found in lower class households. they lost all value. so when it falls out of favor with kings and queens. it will then fall out of favor with all classes.

(in truth many british people use spices, however they dont use them to the extent we do, or have as many stocked**, which is sad because they are missing out )

* dont quote me. its all i remembered for a 2 paragraph page in one book we were studying in high school and about trading routes. and as you know, american hs books are mostly concerned with american trading routes, unless you took a special class specific to international, which i could give 2 shlts about so i never took it.

** except kim who clearly has a tony chachere's smuggler on speed dial and has stocked it up in her rack, and knows from heart how to make a killer tajin dupe that will knock your socks off.

@Kim just to link u in

history. yep.

Nowadays pepper is cheap as chips.
and tea too, and most all spices too.
expensive in the old days .... cheap now. pepper is given away in MaccyD's for free

interesting fact -
india is known for spices, right?
but chillies, peppers, come from the new world.

so - all the indian currys and spices, which we associate with India, are originally from the new world. south america. Peru i think
it's as recent as the 17th century. ... History ... it's intresting ...
