To answer your original question though, a UM has the authority to decide when a subject is done and to close a thread.

Your next step would be to take your complaint to @Chatmaster as instructed by @TheLeigh and I'd strongly recommend you take that option rather than keep opening new threads about the same thing. That can lead to a forums ban if you push it to far js.

messaging ChatMaster in 10 years has never gotten an answer.

Then I'd supervise my child's internet use and there, in a nutshell, is why minors are vulnerable on ANY internet chat site. This one has dedicated staff that supervise on behalf of the parents and do it extremely well too.
 
Yes the staff does do it well. But you and I both know that the staff can not stop Direct Messaging, and there for it is irrelevant how good the staff are.

No you would find out that they were talking with Adults about things they may not have a grasp of the implications.
You, block them from going in this chat.
And more than likely if the Adult was luring them to a meeting you raise holy hell with the site and the police.

Don't pretend you are an enlightened parent. Because, there are allot of missing young people that started with an Internet chat.
 
I am not arguing, I am trying to get across to you and the rest of the Adults that you thinking you make this site safe for children is an illusion.

100% this. And every one of us have told Rodeo Navy MT here the same thing, yet he continues to throw the little backhanded shade that we are "protecting" it. Thread after thread.
 
No I am not accusing you of protecting anything, I am saying with how the system works you as a mod or Admin have no control over what the say in Private DM.

If I am Wrong about that, I will admit it. If you can say that you can read the DM's and know when a child is improperly engaged with an Adult.

I will post a very Public apology!

But I know you can not. It isn't your fault, and never said it was. It is the Rules Fault and the rule needs to be changed.

Why is it so hard for an adult to understand that children should not chat with adults?

I know of no parent that would think this even close acceptable. If you are one, I pity you.

I do not believe that. I believe that if enough people voice a concern about the situation of minors being able to talk with adults in DM, sooner or later thinks will change.

Giving up because you don't admin the room, is giving up. You are an Admin, it has to start with you.
 
But I get why you do not want to try, because if go against the grain, no matter how honorable the cause, they reduce you to a Disgruntled what ever.
