mods dont know self value

Honestly, I dont really understand why anyone is offended by the idea that moderators are doing unpaid labor. If you choose to spend hours of your time moderating a website for free, thats your choice. Its not my fault you decided your time was worth giving away. What I find strange is that the site can charge users around $50 for VIP, make money from the people using the platform, and still apparently has no reason to compensate the people doing the work that keeps the place running. Nobody is saying you cant volunteer, go ahead. But dont expect everyone else to pretend that an unpaid position is somehow a prestigious job just because you get a badge and some authority. If anything, I think moderators should be asking themselves why the people benefiting from their labor have no problem letting them do it for free. Thats the part I find funny. Youre giving the site your time, the site gets the benefit, and somehow im the one getting told I should be upset about not getting the position. No thanks. If you want to work for free, thats between you and the owner.

“If your work matters enough to ask for, it matters enough to pay for.”
“Free labor may save a budget, but it costs someone their time.”
“If the results have value, the labor behind them has value.”
“A thank you is kind. Fair pay is respect."

Aka they don't respect your work even though it maintains this place in business. But then again if everyone realized the value of time, it would be a lot harder to get ahead so i guess i should thank you for not being in the way.

I agree with this. And it’s up to each individual to determine what that value looks like.

Some people volunteer at an animal shelter because it helps animals. Some people volunteer at a senior center because it brings happiness to elderly people. And those things also bring value to the individual who’s volunteering.

We are obviously a money driven society. But money doesn’t always equal value. Sometimes doing something that brings you (or others) happiness is more valuable than money.

Everyone offers their time to the various situations of life for many reasons. Self-worth of doing something worthwhile, something to do, meet new people etc, the list is endless.
With a chat site, we give an hour of our time to help keep others safe, we watch a screen and in a few taps can exercise our virtual size 9s where needed, why do we do this you might ask, many reasons, its useless trying to explain to someone who has a limited ability to view life in it's correct form

Don’t be modest, you give much more than asked, as do most on our teams. But your point is well said 👌🏻

we click a few buttons while we’re chatting as we normally would. hardly a very labour intensive “job”
love how you can recognize its "hardly" a very LABOR (not labour) intensive job. I also wonder how mods get fired. "I'm afraid we're gonna have to let you go" "No no no, this moderation job is my lifeeee!!!! You dont understand Boss, I need this or I won't be able to socialize anyway else!"

Oh so sorry. Didn't know we had some woke people in the dweeb chat community too.

Manners clearly aren't your strong point, neither is thinking, when you've sobered up and re read the trash you are posting, you'll realise just what an absolute dweeb you sound

@jenji regardless of your demeanor, I think you raise an interesting topic for discussion about volunteerism, the value of work, and how different people have different viewpoints about it.

And as happens in most online forums, you have some people who are interested in engaging in intelligent, respectful discussions about a topic and others who just want to stir the pot and aren’t interested in even listening to the other perspective.

Jenji could have been a great mod, you missed employing this rising star.

Usually Leigh employs all the mods that self destruct and nuke everything around them i guess its that famous "female intuition".

He passed the test, he's perfect for gen room.

I also wonder how mods get fired.
In my experience, most mods quit as opposed to being removed. And they quit for a variety of reasons, like work/family/time commitments. Or because they get burned out, especially in rooms like ours where you have 1,000+ users every day.

As for being let go, it can be for things like violating our rules, disappearing for long periods of time, etc.

Chronic women who use ai for their profile pictures tend to do that 🤔

I look at it this way if im going into a chat room and chatting and use it for a bit of social outlet like many do. Why not help out to make it a better and safer place to chat. Just because your a mod or admin doesn't mean you cant chat . If no one breaks the room rules then your just another chatter in the room with others.

Since my username was evoked and a request for closure was made. I myself would say leave it open; let the original poster get what's coming to them. Which does seem to be the case

Oh, and this opinion was given freely; I did not get paid for it 😵

Mission accomplished, this place is about as safe as Roblox, good job everybody
