Lgbt chat.

Honestly, I think we need a combined one — I mod lesbian chat, and the amount of **** you get in there for being a trans male is stupid 🙃

Definitely make us a channel where the whole community can chat in, so they don’t have the same issue as I’m facing.

There is already a lez chat and a gay chat and now you want an lgbt chat as well? Get over your sexuality and find a more tangible subject to share/talk about with other people.

I think you’re missing the point of what the original post was about, Bread.

yes, there’s a gay room and lesbian chat, but unfortunately, there is still some discrimination towards other sexualities. And this can make users feel unwelcome. That’s the purpose of this post. To create a safe space. For everyone.

Creating more rooms to fit everyones gender or sexuality is not going to create safe spaces or stop discrimination. The only thing its going to do is weed out the user base and kill the site.

Would you rather chat in a room full of 30 people or have 10 sexuality/gender rooms with 3 people each?
That is why we have moderators, if anything proper moderating should be the solution to your problem.

Uh, at which point did I say create singular rooms for each sexuality? I said to create *a* lgbt chat alongside gay and lesbians.

I am not sure why you’re discussing my modding, when I can in fact moderate pretty well.

Isnt the premis of this post to create an additional room called LGBT?ie another sexuality room
Yes, i know what you said. What im saying is where does it end? The problem isnt your sexuality its discrimination and hatred.

I wasnt discussing your modding, i dont know how you mod. I didnt even realize you were a mod til just now. The point is, modding is the only way to deal with discrimination and hatred. I dont believe creating an additional LGBT room or a trans room or a bi room or anything else is going to create safe spaces for anyone. Like i said, its just going to weed out the userbase.

Create another room and the same trolls and people who discriminate you will just go there too.

Actually, it isn’t the trolls that I’m concerned about, it’s the regular ********. There wouldn’t be any more additional rooms after this, as it would fit under that one room.

Majority of the lesbian chat believe if you’re a man, bisexual, pansexual and not a fully ledged lesbian, you can’t be there. And honestly, I don’t blame them for thinking that way. The side rooms wouldn’t get used anyway, because not many people are aware of its existence.

Yes, trolls will be trolls but that can be dealt with. This was a more of an umbrella room for all sexualities to subsided in, be safe and meet others with the same sexuality.

I have no idea why I’m bothering explaining this to you, Bread. You don’t understand the concept of why I started this thread to begin with. 🥲

It is their perogative, to think what they want to think. But thats not to say people who go into the presumed new lgbt room would also apply those same ideals to other users in the lgbt room.

Since there is already a gay and lez chat i dont see the need to create an additional lgbt main room. In my opinion there should just be an LGBT room as that covers "most" sexualities and eliminate lesbian/gay chat as it is just a repeat.

You want to create a room where LGBT people who arent gay or lez can feel comfortable in. This room would be called LGBT.
I am against this idea because there is already two rooms that cater to the lgbt community. I am also against it because the problem you describe is attributed by individuals rather than your sexuality. You yourself stated that its the regular ******** that are the problem. There is nothing stopping regular users from coming to your new room.

You witness discrimination to other sexualites that are anything but a fully fledged lesbian as well as experience it in Lesbian chat . Can you not understand that even if you create a LGBT room, those same lesbians/regs are also welcome there?

Heres are two examples:
  1. Hannah, sarah and jamie identify as lesbian and chat in lesbian chat. Hannah, sarah and jamie discriminate against your sexuality in lesbian chat because you are not a fully fledged lesbian. You create an LGTB where people who arent fully fledged lesbians can feel safe in. Hannah, sarah and jamie join the room because identify as lesbian, which is part of LGTB. Hannah, sarah and jamie continue to harass your sexuality in the new LGTB room.
  2. You create a new LGBT room. For some reason or other Bisexual people are discriminated against and dont feel safe in that room. Should we now "need" to create a Bisexual room too? A Q room as well?
The answer is moderating, not creating new safe spaces. If you feel uncomfortable in the room then find another available room, or create a sideroom where you and your friends can chat in. If there is obvious discrimination or harassment, that is against most chatrooms rules and that should be dealt with by moderating.

I don’t think you quite understand still, let’s say these people come into the new lgbt room, they can’t really moan about anyone being there who is different sexualities because it’s inclusive to all sexualities. Not just lesbians. Not just gay men. Everyone - including allies, such as heterosexuals.

I am trying to see your point but the gay and lesbian rooms aren't all inclusive to lesbians and gays. The rooms can be joined by gay men, allies, heterosexuals and all sexualities. Being lesbian and gay is not a requirement for being in either room.

They can and they will moan because the room is not exclusive. You are essentially creating an "everyone" room.

Again you say they, presumably meaning the users. Again I say this has all to do with individuals and nothing to do with the rooms. I am sorry these users make you or others feel anything but safe in that room. You as a moderator can control that to an extent.

You’re right, I can deal with it, when I’m there anyway. But not everyone can just warn, mute and kick people. I’m not just doing this for myself, I’m doing it for other people too.

Well im glad i had the chance to enlighten you with my thoughts and possibly change your perspective. You might still disagree but i am just here to voice my opinion and have a discussion. If we cant open ourselves to each others ideas and opinions this would simply be an argument. Arguments lead nowhere.

I think the best result would probably come from talking it over with your admin and coming up with other solutions to combat this discrimination.

I’m not actually arguing, I was actually agreeing that I could do something when I’m there, but I can’t always be. It’s just sad when there is discrimination in those rooms, because there shouldn’t be. And yes, we can tackle it when we’re around but let’s face facts, it will always be like that in there. Hence why I thought of the idea of a possible lgbt room, where people don’t get shunned for who they are. I was using myself as an example for the discrimination but I’m a ftm trans guy, who is literally disliked whenever I go in there now. I’ve seen pansexuals and bisexuals get discriminated against — yes I’ve been there to stop it — but why not create a space for them too?

Well my reasoning still stands that if you create spaces for other sexuality or genders then there will be too many rooms. Not only that but then you have to be fair with everyone so then if someone feels uncomfortable in the lgbt room they will also want a room of their own. It will just create more issues than it will resolve.

The users from LGBT wont just grow out of thin air. Theyll probably migrate from a room like lesbian. This in turn will thin out the herd so to speak.
The more rooms that are created the less population they will have. People dont like chatting in empty rooms and those rooms will eventually wither and die.

bread, I’m not saying create a room for every single sexuality lol! Because that would be stupid, like you’ve mentioned.

Yes I understand you only want to make one room that caters to the lgbt community but we already have two. Add another that makes 3. There is no guarantee that making another room is going to be a safe haven for people that don't fit in les or gay chat.

My opinion is either make the lgbt room and get rid of lez or gay or just keep les and gay

I think what ElSerto is trying to express is that there is a need for a g-rated LGBTi+ chatroom that is going to be a bit more friendlier especially to Gender Dysphoric teens and youth.

When I began modding Gay Chat about 3 years ago it actually was a g-rated room that was 16+ and I wanted the room to be a room where there was inclusion, where youth could mingle and seek the wisdom, experience and support of people who have been there and done that, but much to my distress the room was neglected for 2 years with only 2 mods and no Admin for a better part of 18 months before Chopper came on board.

Instead of trying to clean it up, it was made adults only and every perv, paedo, and diseased mind came out of the word works and it has literally become impossible to police especially since Flash Chat ended and the numbers went from an average of 300 ******** to an average of 800-900 ********.

Unfortunately there is not a great deal of support for Admins to send down to their Mods which has allowed for the cesspools that are adult chat with overflows seeping in to g-rated rooms.

So back on to topic, yes there is a need for a g-rated GLBTi+ chatroom that is a safe and clean place to chat....Will it happen on Chat Ave? No, it won't.
