15 year old mod in General Chat

Girls Chat where I chat is a 13+ room. Even so we obviously get our share of creeps and peds which staff does a great job of taking care of. I think 14,15, 16 year old kids should be just that. Kids. Chat with friends, hang out etc. Let the adults take care of the adult stuff and let kids be kids.

Pinky has been a fantastic moderator for a long time, regardless of her age. She’s got plenty of experience modding Kids Chat and has more than earned her stripes. She can also handle herself. No need to be so patronising.

I agree partially it depends if they’ve modded before. She has the experience so it works. I wouldn’t just take any old 15 years old to mod general chat.

Kids have enough to worry about. School, peer pressure, social media pressure etc. The last thing they should have to worry about is dealing with the adult world before they’re even adults. As adults, (27 here) it’s our job to keep kids safe, whether online or off. They depend on us for that. That’s why I don’t think kids should be reading reports about explicit stuff here. Like I said, just my two cents tho. 🙂

Let Chat Avenue be the place where people of all ages can come to and chill and chat. Which it is. But when kids are concerned let it be a little escape. Meet people from all over the world and chat. One reason I encourage friends to set their pms to friends only so creeps can’t bombard them with nastiness.

I normally wouldn't weigh in on something like this, but today's the day. I struggle with the idea of mods under the age of 18 across the board. Even in the rooms with an upper age limit, the things that moderators are exposed to are dreadful and often illegal. And the thought of an underage moderator moderating a room with 18+ ******** is something I have been vocally against.

I'm all for kids being kids and living their lives outside of chat, but in select situations, circumstances make that unrealistic or otherwise impossible. @Pinky has made Chat Avenue her home, and from what I've heard, General Chat has been nothing but kind and welcoming to her. She's a good kid with a good head on her shoulders, and has proven herself capable of being able to handle difficult situations appropriately. How @Samwise decides to navigate having a 15 year old moderator in General Chat is on him, but if there was ever a time and a place to make an exception, this is it.

@Pinky, my very best to you - on or off chat, modding or not.

I really do appreciate that 🥰. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t thought about it off and on at times. ATM I just don’t think I can put in enough hours tbh. What I do do is try my best to help you and all the mods out when I can by either sending reports or screenshoting stuff when staff isn’t around. Just playing my small part for our little community of misfit toys 😄
