Right?! And you know what’s even more bizarre? Seeing that on a site full of people claiming to be Admins and Moderators — supposedly to keep the place clean and safe — only you and
@Ken_Kaneki (ex staffs) handled this issue with the seriousness and respect it truly deserves. The rest turned it into a joke about burgers, pizza, and pineapple.
And to think I was kicked out of the lesbian room multiple times just for saying “Free Palestine,” because it was considered a “sensitive topic” for the Nazis in the room… I mean, the Zionists.
But back to the point: if an admin makes a poor decision out of scientific ignorance, fine — that’s understandable. Not everyone spends 14 hours a day sitting in a chair reading about history, geopolitics, science, watching lectures, solving math problems, and melting their brain with knowledge they find useful. I don’t judge that. But as adults, I believe we must be able to discern when our decisions put children at risk.
A lot of people claim it’s “exaggeration” when we talk about the long-term harm of exposing children to inappropriate content, but science disagrees. According to scientific studies, the prefrontal cortex of a Homo sapiens only finishes developing between the ages of 23 and 25. That means everything a child is exposed to during this process will deeply shape the adult they become.
Long-term exposure to violent or inappropriate content can lead to adults who struggle to make important life decisions — like leaving an abusive relationship, quitting a toxic job, or controlling their impulses. These people are more likely to suffer from binge eating, obesity, generalized anxiety, and addictions to alcohol, drugs, or cigarettes.
That’s why age ratings exist for video games, movies, TV shows, and even platforms like Y0uTvbe Kids. Because the kind of content a child is exposed to throughout their life will shape the adult they grow into.
For example, children exposed too early to violence may become apathetic, insensitive, egocentric, antisocial, sociopathic — even psychopathic. Just look at Dexter’s dad, who thought it was a great idea to take his child hunting and dissecting animals. That kind of desensitization to violence is common among kids exposed to violent games — which is exactly why those games are restricted to adults.
But of course, many will deny science to justify the admin’s poor decision. After all, no one wants to make enemies with the so-called kings and queens of this place, right?
Just like some people deny vaccines, claim the Earth is flat, or that climate change doesn’t exist — just to defend their leaders in power — it’s no different here. Science is wrong; they’re always right.
And since people around here love to say “this isn’t real life, it’s just a website,” then fine — I’ll speak their language. Maybe then they’ll understand me.
Even in fiction, true queens know how to rule justly for the good of their people. Rhaenyra Targaryen said: “Hello.”
On the other hand, we have the Cersei Lannisters — corrupt queens who prefer to close their eyes to injustice for their own benefit, but love to project power onto the weak to protect their own ego and vanity. I call this kind of leadership a
Paper Queen.
A Paper Queen will never admit she was wrong. She’d rather watch the people of King’s Landing burn while she hides like a coward inside her castle.
For those who truly understand the subject, a single image is enough.
