I think that rooms that have an age limit, especially 13+, should make it mandatory that anyone, before creating an account, guest or member, post their age.

I can't tell you how many times someone has shown up in Girls Chat asking to private chat with an underage girl, and the Admin or Mod asks how old they are and they say they're in their 20s or much older. Gross!

I understand that some rooms may not care so much about that, but if there are 'kids' in rooms, anyone logging in should have to show their age, or the log-in process won't complete. Like when you do something online, like a job application or something, you have to fill in the blank to proceed, right? It's common sense.

I know what you're thinking, "they will just lie about it anyway so what's the point?". The point is, if they tell the truth, staff can see it, or if they're caught lying, they can still be kicked or banned. It's all about the safety of minors.

It would be nice if gender and location were made mandatory as well, but that's a different issue I suppose.

The point is the 'safety' of minors. What do you think?

First you need to find a way to make people tell the truth, until then, nothing will work and the work the mods, admins and the UMs already do is the first and best line of defence to help protect minors and remove those that prey on minors.
 
Oh c'mon, you're missing the point. I agree the Admins and Mods are our primary protectors but why shouldn't there be another safeguard? How hard would it be to add that to the system?
 
I do agree with @Baby Universal, especially if this whole policy hinges on users being forthcoming or ‘being caught, lying about their age.’

How would that happen? A Moderator asks, or a user reports a private chat. Precisely what already happens.

It’s commendable you’d like to protect minors. Moderators are already doing the best they can on that front, granted.

That’s incredibly reductionist and dismissive. Simply because your proposal wouldn’t mete out the protections you think it would, and people disagree with you, you want to paint us as being disinterested in protecting young persons?

Forcing people to set an age limits the lies they can tell with credibility in PM's. This is why its important to get the ages of people with red flags publicly. Sure people can lie, but they are then stuck in that 1 lie! It really limits and helps people. So forcing it as a requirement to join would help a lot of people spot the dangers when things are instantly not matching up.

No, it's not. And, since you don't know me either, you shouldn't be making such stupid comments, Wayne. What I'm talking about is protecting minors and you should be standing behind that instead of making excuses. I believe you can just piss off yourself dude!

The point is, the predators in Girls Chat set ageless then change age depending on what suits them best in any given PM. Set ages would help, as it does help when called out and they have to set an age, or give an age in public. This limits the danger potential, does it stop everything? of course not, nothing does. But it all limits it. So having it as a log in requirement would help, even when they do lie.
 
The idea is sound but the execution is impossible. If we had an option to mark ourselves from Mars, some would it 😛

On this though, thats why we have moderators. Its up to us to remember things said by users and if things turn fishy, start keeping proof of those things. Many instances of this can be found from various complaints. "I was banned for being under/over age but Im not". Id say 99% of the time, the moderator is able to show where ages were changed up at some point. This stuff is taken very seriously. Remember, the ultra bad ones like that always slip up 🙂
 
I see your point and it wouldn’t be a bad idea. Like It’s mandatory to put an age. Even if they lie, most will be either (if they lie) very very old (99) or young. At least the very old ones can be weeded out if they break rules.

I see your point, however I’m unsure if it will be implemented since we don’t really force anyone to do anything. Example is making an account, no one is forced, it would be nice if it was but I doubt admin would in fear of losing majority of the population. Good idea though! 👍🏼 😊
