Anorexia/Bulimia

Attempting not to sound insensitive, I think that anorexia nervosa and bulimia are morbid and disgusting.

Being thin does not make you attractive; in fact, from my point of view, quite the opposite. I really can't understand why anyone would want to be thin. It just looks horrible and it's unhealthy.

I guess that people are just crazy. I mean, why can't you be more like Brigid Berlin? Now there's an attractive woman. 😱

I think it's just as mean to make fun of someone for being thin as it is to make fun of someone for being overweight. Either way, commenting on someone else's body like that is a little unnecessary of you.

It's not a fantastic idea to tell someone who has an already damaged self-esteem that you think they look 'horrible' and 'unhealthy', by the way. Just a thought. :dontknow:

100% know what you are talking about.

This is a really touchy subject. I've had bulimia for 4 years :disgust: it really sucks. I recently had to get a filling in one of my teeth in the back for tooth decay.. It's so hard to control once you get into it.

Take note that Anorexia nervosa and Bulimia nervosa are both mental disorders. It’s more complicated than just choosing not to eat a sandwich even when you’re so hungry, it’s not something you can treat overnight. Those eating disorders (form of self-starvation) is as bad as Binge Eating Disorder (compulsive overeating or consuming abnormal amounts of food while feeling unable to stop and a loss of control). Eating disorders have many causes, it can be triggered by traumatic life experiences of body shaming, fatshaming, bullying, or any abuse that has something to do with a person’s body or appearance. These are serious mental illnesses and not just a mere lifestyle choice. Majority of the clients I have handled in the past had a mentality that self-starvation is the only way to lose weight because in our society, losing weight equates to becoming acceptable and becoming sexier. It’s the pressure that they experience from society, the people that surrounds them and their own selves. They always feel like it’s never enough, that they are not enough, that they should keep pushing themselves over the limit because it’s the only way they will be accepted. Someone who is suffering from eating disorders often have bad physical appearances yes, it’s not disgusting, it’s an evidence, it’s like a sign saying “I am battling myself, I am having a mental and body warfare” and sometimes it’s a cry for help because oftentimes they do not willingly and voluntarily seek help from people. Eating disorders are disgusting, that I can agree with but you know what else is disgusting? Body shaming. It is damaging in any form, skinny shaming caused by eating disorders is never a good thing either. It’s not as easy as telling someone to eat just because they’re skinny, if eating for them is such an easy thing to do then they would’ve done it already but that’s the thing, they are unable to! Because it is an ongoing battle for them. So never tell someone to who has an eating disorder to just eat so they can gain weight because they look disgusting because believe it or not, it is not something that they can do easily just because you tell them to. Let us be more understanding, before we comment on these issues, let’s try and educate ourselves first and learn more information about these topics rather than just blindly judging. So sorry it's long haha

I think bulimia it's sooooo bad(((
It's not just bad, it's really dangerous. It's a serious illness. It can even be deadly or shorten one's life. Bulimia affects the brain that can cause anxiety or depression. The online pharmacy site states that the health risks of bulimia include cardiac complications, digestive irregularity, fatigue and muscle weakness, organ damage and peripheral neuropathy. This all scares me a lot. So please, be careful folks.

A very close friend of mine had it and it was a nightmare for her and her family. It also took her a long time to recover. She still takes some meds and vitamins from CanadaDrugs, few months after she cured from this awful disease.
