Hi, just wanted to say thank you for the critique.
I don't have anything to comment on in regards to specific mods but I would like to express that I, myself, am constantly trying to be a better moderator in Video Chat.
As someone who has gone through exploitation when I was a minor, I take banning pedophiles very seriously. Ness is right, we take action the second we see any sort of pedophilic behavior- according to the rules we adhere to.
Sometimes I miss a name as chat is going fast, but I will definitely try to keep more of a lookout. I am often moderating alone since I join in the middle of the night. Sometimes it can be difficult for a single moderator to manage the entire chat at once. If there is a troll constantly evading bans, It is easier to miss other clear violations. Please know that you can always ask to PM me if you see someone clearly violating a rule. It is not ideal to have to ask that, but having someone report broken rules is always better than missing the rule-breaker entirely.
The instance where the lady was posting her link several times in chat is not ok. Though, the moderators may have been afk at the time if nobody was speaking. We are encouraged to log out if we are AFK for an extended period of time, as not to cause confusion. This sometimes does not happen (I am guilty of accidentally leaving my tab open occasionally). That may have been the case there.
I want to stress that I do not think any of our moderators are purposefully allowing this type of content to manifest. None of us defend or stand for any type of child exploitation. When we see it, we ban it.
Since this post, I have encouraged the importance of re-evaluating our priorities as moderators to my peers. I have expressed my own mindset of continuously growing through critique. I hope this can make a difference in creating a safer environment in Video Chat.
Again, thank you so much for bringing these issues to our attention.
