Hi folks,
I know this has come up before but I think it needs reinforcing.
I am once again requesting the site considers banning guests from being allowed to share images.
On /sex/, bots (presumably rolling IPs via VPN) are running routines where they are logging into the site as a guest with a gibberish name and posting links to a page where pederasts can go and download gross stuff. The way that they are doing this is uploading an image with an example of the content (the links are in text added to the image).
In other words: due to bots posting images, users in the main chat of /sex/ are repeatedly exposed to child pornography that they have not requested and are not on the site to access. The vast majority of users find this repugnant. This isn’t “one bad egg”. It’s a systematic routine exposing users to the most repulsive stuff imaginable. The mods kick as soon as they can - but they can only do remediation not prevention, they cannot prevent the guest logging in and immediately posting this stuff.
Currently guests cannot share images on /sex/ privately but can share them publicly. Because 800-900 people at a time are seeing the images in main, I’d argue this is more damaging than the other way around - although I’d prefer that there is no way this stuff could get to me (the bot could just write a script PMing the same image).
The problem is getting worse if anything. The site can either decide to take serious, meaningful action on this, or the site is complicit. Which is it?
