Is fat shaming healthy?

Is it healthy?

Eating less = losing weight
It isn't just that though. It's also about what you consume, what medical issues you have, how fast is your metabolism, what food intolerances you may have personally, mental illnesses especially depression can affect your physical health. Not to mention eating disorders, something fat shaming itself is mostly known for causing. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Also I did mention that yes for some people it motivates them to lose weight / like you said save lives but it is more likely to cause anybody to spiral especially if they are already self conscious about it or have an issue with their weight being acknowledged at all (even if it's in a positive light).

I wasn't referring to just people who are fat I mean people who are extremely obese to the point it is a danger to their life
The thread is about fat shaming though. Which can go to not only obese people, but also even people who are overweight. This isn't discussed enough but this also mistakenly happens to some people who are of already average weight (or on the higher end of average weight) not to mention people with body types that aren't considered appealing to the person who have made the fat shaming comment and/or statement (such as not having a thigh gap, collarbones, etc.) hence why I said fat shaming has a higher risk of causing a negative effect to someone than positive. It is very likely to cause someone to have a low self esteem or worse develop an eating disorder especially if you're not the first person to them that made the statement.

Also to OP, no we are not gonna say the word "all" but
1) YES. EDs (Eating Disorders) ARE real and they can be really DEADLY. Anorexia, bulimia (I am still 3 years recovering from that BTW), pica (do not have that anymore thanks to treating anemia) and just to acknowledge any kind of EDNOS are very long term and dangerous to live!!

2) Just because fat shaming worked for you does NOT mean it is likely to work on others! It is VERY well known to cause EDs!

Your body when struggling with these disorders will be used to habits that you will struggle to get out of because of many things that you yourself may think about, like how other people see you (maybe you wanna be as thin/big as your crush, or you're thinking about future events you want to look good for each time, etc.) and what they're gonna say ("you've slimmed down!" "You've gotten wider!").

And sometimes, even if you're not thinking about ANY of that, since your body still has those unhealthy habits imbedded to it, it will seriously do it's best to force the habits upon you or worse cause terrible symptoms (insomnia, coldness, prone to diseases, mood swings, breakdowns, etc.), which can cause just as more risk as obesity to many.

Eating disorders do NOT discriminate. If you or anybody you know has one please help them and reference healthier habits with food, whether they are underweight or obese, be careful as to how you approach the topic and PLEASE be considerate. It is NOT a simple topic to speak of especially with someone who already constantly thinks about it!! Please remember that.

A huge thing with America's obesity issue is the fact that

1) it is abused and exploited. Remember that a patient cured is a customer lost. Many people are being encouraged / influenced to take surgery instead and/or abuse medications / drugs (Ozempic, Adderall, etc).

2) We have a lot of genetically modified food / foods that are full of chemicals that also make our bodies react in certain ways. So even if we were to turn to a healthier alternative, think of the modified fruits/vegetables and meats we have.

This made me resort to fasting, because finding actually good/healthy food was very hard and expensive for me in my area.

3) Being in lower-lower end of mid class leads to many people taking shortcuts.. Fast food consumption being cheap and quicker than cooking / preparing the meal with your own individually bought ingredients, choosing not to pay for gym and/or equipment to exercise with because they need to save for other things or maybe they don't have enough. A lot of employed parents resort to fast food so they can save time from cooking before or after their shifts.

No it’s not. But it’s more healthier than being fat.

But I cannot help laughing at those videos of morbidly obese people filming themselves getting food and stating “oh darn they forgot my salad”

Next joke Pumba

yeah the mcdonald's salad that's loaded with just about the same amount of sodium & sugar as dominos pizza sauce

What people don't realize is that you can eat anything you want, healthy or not. The main thing you need to do is exercise, but most people are far too lazy to even work out or do any form of exercise for even 5 minutes. So, they just gain more and more weight until they eventually get heart problems, diabetes, and many other problems. Most of these could be solved from the start if they just exercised at least a few hours every day, if not every other day.

<< Diabetic here and not fat.

Edit: maybe I should become fat so Rishi Sunak doesn’t draft me up for the UK army.

I was fat. Got called a lard arse and if I ever jumped into a swimming pool I would cause a tsunami.

Been on a diet, exercise a lot and guess what? Still a little portly but I feel great these days after losing half my body weight.

In poor African countries like Ethiopia, Somalia etc we never see fat people on tv the reason is obvious

This is just the top notch thinking this thread needs. Compare the obesity problem to malnourished people who many times starve to death. By the way, what channel do you usually watch these Somalians and Ethiopians on? I'm going to binge on True Detective but I'm willing to put that and Curb your Enthusiasm for this show. Is Sally Struthers or Jerry Lewis in it?

Exercise is paramount

Actually, no. Being in a calorie deficit is paramount to lose weight.

You can achieve that by exercise but it's much easier to put less in than spend your time exercising to burn off putting in too much

No, it's a fact and it's extremely simple. Every single effective weight loss technique/diet that works will always be based on a calorie deficit

5,000 calories in - 3,000 calories burnt = gain weight

2,500 calories in - 3,500 burnt = lose weight

2,500 calories in - 2,500 calories bunt = maintain current weight

You should start your own weight watchers diet club, you have the facts so you will easily make obese women thin and make a fortune lol

Nah, cba with that. Crowded market and James Smith is the God of it.

PS. Men can be just as obese as women and will pay for the knowledge to improve, but generally it's sticking to it that's key - and not having that piece of cake that's offered in the office, or not eating your partner's leftovers, or not having that syrup the sneaky b******s at Starbucks always try to get you to have

Exercise is paramount
Wrong. Many people have genetic differences. I intermediate fast and even when I tried Dbol in my early 20s, I never got a sick pack. Some people cannot obtain a six pack no matter how hard they try. Telling someone just to diet and work out is lazy in itself. It's like someone who is depressed and you tell them to just go for a walk or take meds and it'll go away.

Also, someone said earlier that you can eat whatever you want even if it's unhealthy as long as you exercise. Wrong, there are foods that are very toxic, can even promote estrogen and alter the chemical compounds in your brain. Calories don't burn fat either. Calories are converted energy. You can burn those calories off and not focus on the fat. You can't expect everyone to be able to get into a calorie deficit and burn fat, especially if they're diabetic.

Trust me, myself and @Inkandtatts know what we're talking about.

See? You're bringing up Weight Watchers, a meal that will help you lose weight but not keep it off because cutting calories eventually stunts your metabolism and makes it so you have to either stay at that calorie intake or reduce it more because going over it will cause fat gain. Starvation mode is exactly this, eating less calories and it's often mistaken for fasting.

Just another topic you know nothing about
