My burden of being a girl in Girl Chat

it’s my burden to try and be ok with a man watching me chat in main.

it’s my burden to try to stop paying attention when i start reading what a man wants to tell us.

it’s my burden to be constantly forced to make decisions to just look away or spend time and effort blocking them every month.

it’s my burden to bite my tongue when a man jokes around with us.

it’s my burden to be silent when i have a visceral reaction from seeing a mans face who just wants to “hang out with the girls”.

it’s my burden to find reasons why the “they are allowed to be here with us” rule is ok.

it’s THEIR burden to be nice and respectful. some truly are. some maybe are. some for sure aren’t. that’s true for any person male or female.

i was r'd when i was 9 over a period of a year by a man who lots of ppl thought was a nice and respectful man. maybe i have trust issues and a change in room rules won’t fix that. but for me, the current rule is my burden to bear and it’s a very heavy one sometimes in the only girls chat room i know of.

if the “male” and “other” option was removed, then it would be THEIR burden to be forced to pretend to be a girl if they really feel an innocent need to hang out with the girls.

i’m fine with the truth that more men will just pretend to be girls in order to not get kicked. figuring out who is lying about being a girl won’t be new problem… because we already have to do this.

Rules are what they are but that being said, the staff in Girls Chat do a good job keeping things in line. People have all sort of opinions on the matter but the last point you bought up is the simple truth. Regardless of gender, everyone you be polite and respectful to one another. Best option for those who highly disagree with males being in Girls Chat is to use that ignore feature. That way you can't be contacted by that person or even see what they mention in main chat. Once done, just go on with your life. Make friends, laugh, listen to music, and use the room for the parts you enjoy.

I understand your point but your lack of compassion is disappointing.

more like my choice to be burdened. I asked an admin to move this. I was thinking it was ban/kick related because its about NOT banning or kicking. but prob should be moved.

I’m very sorry that you had to go through that as a child. I hope you’ve been able to find some peace with it. As for your original comment, it’s my opinion that there should be a girls only chat room that only allows females. Yes men could still fake it to get in but the Moderators would hopefully be able to suss them out and remove them.
Take care

I honestly love this meme and it's so true for public life. Girl Chat is not "everybody else in my life" its a small place on the internet that can have different rules than the rules other places have... even rules that say who isn't allowed to be there. Have you seen the memes that explain nuance?

If all these chat ave rooms are all just filled with everybody else in my life, why have themed rooms?

This public discussion forum doesnt even allow rational free speech.

If you dont want to be burdened by talking to or seeing men then maybe make your own group chat with only women. Either that or learn how to cope with your own burden and stop resenting men.

things get put in the wrong forum all the time. when a mod is active and sees it , it gets dealt with

no mod/admin can do their volunteer assignment when they are off in r/l or asleep. name calling and abusing the staff never ends well.

this isn't a USA government run website. therefore there is no "right to free speech" . it is a private website and therefor one must abide by the owners rules/tos.
