What started as a shítpost about tampons being available in male toilets has made me realise that women have been fortunate to have these useful tools available for years, in vending machines, in toilets.

It’s been suggested elsewhere on here that tampons are now in all male toilets, yet I’ve still not found any.

“Because tampons are sterile and highly absorbent, you can use them as bandages to stop bleeding from wounds. In fact, US Army medics have reportedly used them since the Vietnam War. On and off the battlefield, they're also good for packing bloody noses or sopping up blood from a knocked out tooth”

This info ^^ was unknown to me until I asked G00gle. If tampons had been easily available to me on a night out a few years ago, it would have saved me a night waiting in A&E.

men don't menstruate 🤷🏼‍♀️

wat more is there to even discuss???
But we get nosebleeds, lose teeth in a Friday night punch-up, and bleed, and these things are apparently brilliant for all of that.

1am on a Saturday morning trying to find a 24-hour pharmacist or spending the night at the hospital vs. popping to the loo and getting something that would fix me up, I’d rather go for the latter.

I guess I could ask a lady to pop into their loos and get me one but if I’ve got a nose pissing with blood at that time of night I wouldn’t want to scare them

I was going to vote no...but figured that'd send the wrong message...

I don't think they should be in vending machines in ALL toilets/bathrooms/restroom/washclosets or whatever else you call them where you're from without derailing the thread because you're a fucking biggot....i think that they should be freely available to everyone in all restrooms...for anyone to use them. regardless which bathroom someone with a uterus is using, they should have access to free period products...but also...often when they are free...or even in vending machines...they're empty...so even if you're going to hatefully deny someone the use of a bathroom because of your transphobic beliefs...they should still be available for someone to get for someone having a period as a backup place to have them

I’ve never seen a tampon in the mens toilets. I’ve seen them in gender neutral toilet and it is just one toilet not a shared unisex one. Ironically it’s next to the disabled toilet.

Also tampons in vending machines? No. Only on the basis that would require payment and I see no reason why any female should have to pay for sanitary products when their body decides it’s time to do so. They should be free, so yes.

Actually I forgot that Scotland is leading the way on free period products and they even have an app to locate where they can be obtained from. Details here, if you're in Scotland or want to see the way the Scot are doing it
