The Yes/No Game

*Joan Crawford voice * No socks in the bed ever!

Do you always sit in the same chair to watch Television at home and the same chair at the dinner table?

I do. I'm a bit of a habit former that way. But it's because they're the best chairs...and i'm the head of the house 😅

do you have more than two pillows in bed?

Yes, there are extra blankets everywhere in my house. Some on every bed and seating option, as well as a closet of spares. Even the dog has a blanket to go with each bed and spares to rotate.

Do you use a humidifier in your home to add moisture to the air?

No, but I use a dehumidifier

Are you one of those people that cringe when you hear the word "moist"?

Sometimes. Depends on the situation

Do you ever go out in your PJs and stick a coat on to catch the shop that closes at 11pm when you’ve run out of milk?

No, I don’t have to but I’ll avoid going out until it’s done

Do you have to style your beard before you go out?

My beard does what it wants...luckily it does it well lol

do you put a coat or sweater on before you go out? (that's a yes or no...not a this or that)

I've considered it. Currently I still want to make canada my home base but eventually want to move to a job that's asynchronous in hours so that it's not the time zone i work or when i do the work...more that i do the work...so i can travel and work without worrying about meetings and such...

do you enjoy your job?

Yes. First weekend of advent which means very little to me religiously but I get to open my advent calendar

Excited for Christmas?

Mostly. Not taking any time off this year...saving the hours for next year.

do you have a themed advent that isn't just christmas?

sometimes they do...sometimes they don't...depends on if someone picks them up.

Do forum outages like yesterday usually have a day or two of side effects?

No, but I missed banning you 😛

Did you do anything outside your comfort zone this weekend?

Uhm... No. But I made potato leek soup, which is something I have never done before. So that's new.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

Only so much that I could eat them til the cows come home but preferably when they've been roasted over an open fire

Do you like mince pies?

Yes I do but the mince pies we server here are probably different than those you are referring too.

Is there food at your favorite restaurant that you do not like?

Yes the old me.

Is there a specific memory/event in your lifetime you’d rather forget with no consequences?

I've watched a few of them, but not all of them. I'm not even sure how many there are. So... Yes?

Is there any type of item you tend to hoard / not discard without a particularly logical reason why?

Yes...but that's with the logic that people that say they wouldn't do something for a million dollars are idiots if its just pride holding you back

do you worry about pictures being leaked?

all last winter i went out in shorts to let the dog out to pee because we didn't have a fenced in yard...even in -40 weather

would you ever consider a cold place to vacation to?

Yes I probably would love to visit but not to stay. Aspen looks beautiful and I would love to travel through Alaska on a train or curse.

Would you camp on a bayou?

I'd camp anywhere....in my younger years lol...now i'm old enough i don't want to sleep on the floor...and can afford a hotel where ever i go lol

have you slept in a tent?

uh...my exwife was known as ick...because her first name was Angelique and Angel seemed to tacky...everyone that's a mutual friend still calls her that

do you have a petname?

that depends what inapproriate might mean to someone...but the fact that i have to justify that logic...probably

ever been caught in a compromising situation?

No, but close. I cut my hair substantially for a Halloween costume in October.

Do you think you are a good parent or would / will be a good parent?

They did okay. I turned out alright (for the most part, at least 😬), so it couldn't have been all bad.

Is there a particular moment in your childhood that you think defined you?

While I think that there's lots of significant moments in my life and specific factors in it that shaped who i am today...the one that stands out to me the most is having read The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho when I was like 12. it vastly shaped my outlook on life and how to handle situations as they came. the tumbling chain of events that followed it's direct and indirect paths for me added to that.

do you think that if you could change the one thing you sometimes fixate on even now that things would have ultimately worked out the way you wanted?

Probably but what I do is a huge part of who I am.

Is there any part of your personality/character you'd change if you could?

Sometimes, depending on the company. I'm pretty confident overall though.

Are you as friendly in real life?

No, I tend to be like Gollum protecting the ring when people come towards me

Can you get me tickets to Hogmanay at Edinburgh Castle this yr pls?

They probably all sold out when it was announced lol

Have you ever been to any big Scottish events?

I went on a little boat to find Nessie. Does that count?

Do you know what career you want to have in ten years' time?

Yes and I'm nowhere near doing that now. It's funny how life deals you different hands and you adapt to play the game differently

Have you reached the point in life yet where you randomly stop and think "wtf!?" more than once a day?

Not really. You just sort of memorize the important ones and learn to say good morning and good night in passing.

Do you buy your own presents for under the tree and/or fill your own stocking with goodies?

The question was because you mentioned that you were a parent. I don't know how old your littles are, but parents often find themselves purchasing their own gifts when the littles are too small for real gift giving.

Yes, I do stockings every year stuffed with goodies.

Does the winter / holiday season bring about seasonal depression for you?

Oh, my kids were in their teens when i left my ex-wife. so any stockings when they were younger were done by her. After the separation I made sure she had them christmas day so that she'd still do the stockings...she likes to get them tons of crap for them...we always celebrate christmas on christmas eve since it's a chilean thing anyways...

I don't really get affected by it. Which is good cause on the shortest day of the year it's like 9 1/2 hours of sunlight here.

do you know if your library lends out SADS lamps?

I do. I worked at the library for 7 years so my card still says employee...which grants me a no expiry on borrowings.

have you been to the library recently?

No, it's been quite some time. They're lovely though and absolutely worth a visit. My boy child is pretty insistent on owning the series of books he's reading currently, so whenever he devours one, we go to the bookstore to purchase the next one in the series.

Did you enjoy your job at the library more than your current employment?

Yes and no. I was the senior systems administrator for a large public library...so I had 20+ branches that i managed from an IT perspective...lots to do and lots of cool things to work on...but as time went on it got to be very corporate and the director I had towards the end sucked the fun out of fucking around to make things work for patrons...so while I loved it...it changed. Now I work from home 100% where I do maybe an hour or two of actual work because the rest of the time i'm waiting for change management approvals and maintenance windows...and the money is really good.

do you miss an old job?

Yes and no, in a similar situation that you described above. I absolutely loved it when it was what I loved. But due to circumstances out of my control, it changed and it was never the same. I held on for as long as I could, but I couldn't see it through the change and eventually had to step out. I couldn't be more grateful I had that experience, and I couldn't be more grateful that I'm now gone.

Are you getting what you want out of life?
