Have you ever made a mistake when map reading?.
 
When I first learned I made loads. Now I never do. We use GPS for position checks if we're unsure on something like the Cuillin ridge which is confusing af and has loads of magnetite in it so compasses don't always work properly but we confirm by compass as soon as we can.

Do you have good navigational skills?
 
Yes.. My husband..who has sadly passed,taught me..I always take a map and compass with me and a basic Garmin GPS as back up.I did my first solo wild camp last August..It was weird without my husband..I'm glad I did it though.

Have you ever been with a group when walking and someone went missing?
 
Sorry to hear about your husband.

No we tend not to walk in groups but the golden rule is that all members of the group stay within the abilities of the weakest member. That way nobody should be able to go astray.

Have you ever rescued someone in difficulties?

Yes.. I was walking in the dark with a male friend of mine and he fell into an old mineshaft..no mobile phones then..I found the nearest public phone box and rang the fire brigade.I then had to lead them to where my friend was..The firemen were unable to help and had to call in a specialist rescue team from Anglesey..my friend only suffered minor injuries...what got me at the time he fell was that he didn't make a sound....I have never let him forget about it..lol.

Have you ever injured yourself while in the mountains?
 
I managed to injure my kneed while climbing. I'd basically taken a small fall off an overhang which caused me to swing out and I didn't get my feet out quickly enough to stop myself swinging into the crag. I finished the climb although I had a huge knee the next day lol
