When closing a thread, shouldn't the UM closing it be a different UM than an Administrator from a room who's taking care of an issue? For example, if there's an Adult Mobile issue and Obscure responds, shouldn't they tag the other UMs for closure?

Thanks ahead of time for setting me straight if I'm mistaken here. I know it's probably a pain to not be able to close your own threads. I'm checking because I've seen it mentioned on the forum in the past and wasn't sure if it needed to be brought up again since we have new additions. Isn't that a thing so a second person verifies? 🍰

I've seen it mentioned on the forum before, and the idea is that it gives better transparency on allowing a second person to review the thread instead of one person having "all the power."

Just seems a bit strange that a UM cannot close their own threads kinda defeats the object of being one in the first place lol, ahh the joys of forums !

I'd have a problem if the thread were deleted or edited, but honestly, closing the thread and tagging CM in the closing post seems fine to me.
yeah in that specific case and thread i don't see an issue.

i just think in general, and i've been saying it for a long time, it might not be a bad idea for an admin/um to ask another um to close a thread about them or their room. especially now that there are 20 um's

sorry, to actually respond to your post, this is only something that has been suggested now and then. at this time i don't think there is any kind of actual rule about it.

I don’t see it as a major issue for a UM to close their own Kick/Ban/Admin/Mod complaints, since any decision can always be appealed directly to Chatmaster. The rules already state that admin complaints should be sent to him via direct message, not posted publicly.

My approach to remain fair is simple: if the complaint is about me, I tag Chatmaster and guide them on how to proceed with their complaint. If it’s about a mod action, kick, or ban, I make a decision and let them know they can message him directly if they disagree.

Submitting an appeal or complaint to Chatmaster is always an option, though.

Did you not want the other UMs responses?

I was just responding as if you posed your question to all four of us individually. 😅
