He was taken to a hospital and psychiatrically evaluated for that threat. Should we place the blame on the hospital for not concluding he was mentally ill and clearing him? or should we blame the gun store that sold him the rifle because, guns.

The system is only as effective as the records recorded and input into that system.

so an entire thread should be closed bc u dont like it & u dont approve of the direction its conversation is going???

If you're threatening to shoot up a school, you shouldn't be allowed to own a gun regardless if you're mentally ill or not.

Yes, but if there was a red flag on his record for threatening to shoot up his school, he might not have been able to get the gun so easily.

I wouldn't blame the hospital for concluding he wasn't mentally ill, he likely wasn't. Most of the mass shooters are not.

Exactly, but these red flags need to stop being swept under the rug and be taken seriously.

And at what age or what threats do u draw the line?
99% of teens talk senseless ****, just go on Xbox live. Does that mean 99% of teens making threats should have their 2nd amendment revoked?

And who's fault is that? The gun store who sold him the gun because the hospital cleared him and didn't raise a red flag?

Or the hospital who didn't raise the red flag

Or perhaps he's just really good at knowing how to lie and beat psychiatric evaluations?

@Boba Fett and @swansong what you are failing to understand is that the Buffalo shooter passed all the back ground checks. As the Law at the time was implemented. You are trying to make actions that MAY happen and actions that COULD happen and criminalize them. Laws will never tell a citizen what they can do. Laws only prohibit. I know you're not going to grasp this concept. Yes it was tragic that there was a mass shooting. But the person that purchased the gun did it legally. Banning guns because they look a certain way isn't going to accomplish what you are seeking. The logistical nightmare you are trying to create is simply ludicrous. Are you suggesting that there be a task force created to go door to door and confiscate guns? Or you just going to trust EVERYONE to follow the law and turn in the guns they legally purchased?

How could it be either of their faults? There was no updated law in place at the time of that shooting to put a red flag on him. They were just doing their jobs.

The law making it easier to use red flags was signed in after that shooting.

Yes, we've established that.

People drive drunk every day and every night, doesn't mean there's no laws against it or that it isn't enforced where possible. This is just another basic precaution.

At least there's some people trying to do something. Certain politicians don't want to do anything and deflect with bullshit that's not based in fact and their supporters are the ones who trust and believe them. Their policy seems to be that if you notice an excessive amount of mass shootings across your country, for God's sake, don't do anything.

Nice example.

Imagine the goverment putting a breathalyzer in your car because stupid people or alcoholics run over people every day. You dont drink, you have nothing to do with drunk people killing innocent pedestrians yet your driving rights/privileges would be being affected by them?
Would you like to have to blow into a breathalyzer everytime you want to start your car?
Would you like to only be able to drive during "off peak drunk driver hours"?
Would you like to only be able to buy passenger cars because 90% of drunk drivers always own SUVs?

Im pretty sure the answer to that is no.
You only advocate for stricter gun laws because it probably doesnt affect you personally.
If you want to do something start by addressing the real problem, nutjobs not guns.

I think boba fett got tired of being proved wrong

No, you just like to argue and have nothing to say. Your whole argument is "why have laws when no one will follow them" as demonstrated in your meme. I'm done with this thread.Find someone else to give you attention.

no. my argument isnt related to the meme at all.
The meme simply implies that thugs have never followed laws. Law abiding citizens however, will continue to follow laws and have less gun rights. Meanwhile thugs will grow rampant because there will be fewer guns to stop them.
