Hey everyone,
I’m so over modern dating apps and their whole superficial vibe. I read this cool quote from Wes Kusmaul, who started the Delphi social network back in the ‘80s: “In 1981, I launched the world's first online encyclopedia, which soon became the Delphi social network. Before we sold the business to Rupert Murdoch's News America Corp. a decade later, hundreds or thousands of couples had met on Delphi. Many of them later married.”
Delphi wasn’t even a dating site—just text-only clubs where people connected over passions and values, not looks. Talking about your height or whatever was straight-up uncool. Meanwhile, today’s apps are like a meet-market, all about swiping on pics and bios, built to keep you hooked, not to find someone real. It’s so shallow and doesn’t even work for real connections. This Delphi Effect thing, where it’s all about who you are inside, feels like what dating’s missing. So I was thinking, could going a step back really be the solution, because that seems way more genuine than what today's dating apps are doing.
