You're acting as if kids don't already know more than most adults by 12 to 13 now anyway. Most of them are watching messed up stuff by 12 to 13. It's the internet. It's never going to be safe for kids and teens. Yet there's more and more using it from a young age. I understand your point, somewhat agree. But She isn't from America; she isn't weak-minded like the little spoiled American kids who get brought up weak and can't even handle words. Being so weak, even basic words such as "fat" or something offend them. You're the same person who would blame all Russians because Putin invaded Ukraine. You are thinking as if it was you at 15, yes maybe you at 15 should not be modding a chatroom. But I'm sure she is quite capable of modding a chatroom.

tbh I think a lot of the complainers have problems with anyone under 18 being a mod at all. I think a lot are using my new illustrious mod career* as a way of bringing up the old ‘under 18s shouldn’t mod’ debate.

I’m actually not taking it personally. Nobody has really said I’m a useless mod. They just don’t seem to think people under 18 should be moderating. We should only see it, not moderate it kinda thing.

While others still are saying we shouldn’t be on chat at all (or exist, maybe?). You know, the internet is for adults only kinda thing?

Yes, I’m aware of how the report feature works. ******** can still report a **** by alerting the moderator via pm without sending the cp content.

I would just like to take this opportunity to state very clearly for anyone who is reading, do not screenshot illegal content and send it to a staff member via PMs. I understand that this thread is currently debating the nuance of whether or not utilizing the report feature in chat would be considered distribution, but without a shadow of a doubt, screenshoting and sending a staff member a PM with illegal content is 100% possessing and distributing illegal content. We appreciate anyone who is trying to help by bringing issues like this to our attention so we can address them and report offenders to the authorities, but this is not the way. One last time for the people in the back, do not screenshot and PM illegal content.

As a 31 year old adult that still eats peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on a semi-regular basis, I feel personally attacked.
 
Before I go off and have a good think about all this and decide what I want to do next, I will say one thing.

Some of you adults really know how to make a “kid” feel useless, unappreciated and like we are nothing but a proverbial thorn in your sides. Excuse us for our existence.

A lot of you are awesome, but some still have this turn-of-the-millennium mentality of ‘children should be seen and not heard.’ Like the internet belongs to you, not us too.

I would refer to the legal definition as to the age of consent and the US is 18. Which is my concern with the way creepos are welcomed or at least not spurned in G.C. I feel that room is not a fit environment for someone 15. Maybe Pinky can zap those but Loki and others will just get unbanned because they kiss HR's ass.

Hey Pinky. No one and I do mean no one wants you to ever feel useless. Far from it. I understand what you must be feeling from all of this. You’re seeing all of this from a teenagers point of view. I used to be one. And it can seem very unfair and restrictive to you. Sometimes as adults we don’t always stop and think about how what we say and do affects kids. Sometimes kids no matter how mature they think they are don’t always understand what may be dangerous. Rules are in place to keep you from harm, real or imagined. Which tbh is all part of human continuity. As I said before, someday when you grow up you may to decide to have children of your own one day, and you will set rules for them to keep them safe. There can be no better way to judge someone by how they care for children, whether their own or not. I want you to do well. In school, in life, but the poison you’re getting by moderating adult content here is inappropriate for someone your age. And I’m willing to bet you’d enjoy your time here a lot more if you left modding behind and just chilled with your friends carefree. Visit Girls Chat sometime. There are many girls your age there that I’m sure you’d make fast friends with. Chin up 🙂

If she is fine with modding, then leave her alone and let her do what she wants. At least she is safe in her house, rather than outside getting abused by some drunk losers or in a gang. You do realize the number of so-called "kids" you keep mentioning, a lot of them are not so innocent. I know many 14 to 15 year olds who are out dealing drugs, beating each other up, killing each other, and doing much worse. So, please do **** off, Darth Erica. I know it seems unfair and even a little mean, but you have to understand there are things that have already been coming your way in Kids Chat that you shouldn’t have to deal with. And General Chat is only second to Singles as far as the dumpster fire rooms here. It’s becuase we care

I think you completely missed the point that one side of this issue is trying to make. It’s not about jealousy or them as a person or if they are capable of doing the job of a moderator.
Some people here are concerned about a minor being placed in a position where they will have to be exposed to graphic sexual images such as cp.

I think as with many divisive or “hot topic” issues there are some people who are able to have a mature, civil discussion about it and others who simply can’t and resort to attacks and hostility. 🤷🏻‍♂️
 
I think this whole discussion has gone far too far.

There are some who will argue with all their might that someone who has proven her worth (as a mod) should never be mod, and there are others (including me) who believe in the good of people and maturity in them.

As @Pinky has said herself, age is a very arbitrary number. At 23.59.59 in your 18th year on this planet (and yes, I know the puritans amongst you will now argue that I got the numbers wrong, but really, when you are born you are zero, and you enter your first year on this planet) you are an innocent naive kid, and one second later you are a mature adult.

But to inform you Americans, there are other countries on this planet, The US of A is not the only country here. And in some countries 16 is legal age, and in others, Mexico for instance 12 is. Yes, Americans, Mexico has a legal age of 12. Shocking isn't it, that other countries have other laws.

As far as I am aware @Pinky isn't an American girl. in fact, as far as I am aware, she hails from a country so far away that most of you Americans are all asleep when she is doing her modding business. So please, enlighten me, why on earth are you singling her out?

I don't know her, I have never had any dealings with her, for the simple reasons I don't go to the rooms she is is (and nor should I go to, for the age thing). But I have a right to state my mind, as you lot think to do.

Perhaps the owners of this forum should just shut it all down, delete everyone and everything from here, and start again, and ONLY keep the mods, for they are doing one hell of an awesome job in trying to keep this place open for some of the most vile people I have seen in 28 years of chatting.

From what I've seen, pinky is amazing, and it's really sweet how she wants to help out... but that dosent automatically make it ok to let minors do that

Thank you! Exactly! You took the words out of my mouth. I’ve made it a point to tell Pinky it’s nothing personal at all against her. No doubt in my mind she’s an exceptional young lady, but no minors should be moderating adult content. And I’m honestly still blown away by the number of adults which includes a lot of staff sadly that think it’s perfectly ok for kids to mod this stuff.
 
General has a lot of mods in question. I agree that a 15-year-old should not be moderating a general chat room. People will argue that the room is 13 plus which it is. However, 99 percent of all active regulars are over 18 and the topics in that room are usually adult oriented. There are reasons that social media sites have age groups to keep them restricted for obvious reasons. Additionally, they made MrBlunt a moderator and he is just downright creepy. The only mods in that room that seem fair and balanced are Chelle and Leigh. The rest of them are not even worth my time.

Not sure it’s really a double standard. I think some people can believe that minors should be protected on the internet and also believe that there are some benefits to having minors mod some rooms.

Was not trying to single you out. In my trollish ways I just meant to say you are too nice of a person to mod that room.
I know you can handle yourself well.
I am not saying all users and staff are creeps.
My objection is the seemingly lax way they handle two things that concern me, at users harassing underage females and turning a blind eye on anti Jewish symbols and hate a race speech.
Not all the users and certainly mods are suspect there. Rapi is a breath of fresh air and I wish who was room admin again.
I think Pinky will do a good job there and can handle themselves well in any room.
Just please watch out for the creeps and the creeps may not be the ones that are the most obvious.

Agreed. Lots of opinions and views thank you all.

However it is an administrative decision to hire Pinky, it's an exception to what I normally do, and its not being reversed based on these posted opinions. As noted by @TheDifference and @Inkandtatts and others...there are only 2 types of opinions that ultimately matter, my mods and mine. She has a spot long as she wants it and can do the job.
