Do you really me to type the words "Invading Greenland or Canada is crazy." when literally this whole time I've been saying me and many Americans wanna stop with the military crap? You really need to work on your reading skills. Lol. We shouldn't be invading or bombing any country that hasn't attacked us period. The ones that do we drop the hammer on them for a week or 2 then come home.
You're missing the point of what I'm saying though. The far right and far left are actually tyrannical. They believe it is okay to use violence to force their wills on other people. Most Americans are somewhere in the middle though.
With that being said what if one far crazy side did get control of America? Started using the military to enforce their will. Killing political opponents. Putting nonconforming people into camps as slave labor until they die or just outright kill them? What could you do about it? Hmm? Laws are only as good as the ability to enforce them. America is the big enforcer. What if Trump found a loophole in our system to carry out an invasion of Greenland or Canada? NATO would lose a massive amount of troops just trying to get over here and that's after they fought off the attacks that would happen within minutes to their countries because of our strategically positioned bases. Would Europe be willing to sacrifice millions of lives for Greenland? Which countries of NATO would bet on America winning and not help or worse join us?
Oh I know you'll use international law to stop the leader responsible! All you gotta do is come and get them. Lol. Imagine fighting an America that doesn't follow the rules of war? It's a bone chilling thought.
America has checks and balances, but the world needs it too. That's why the rest of ya need to step up. Get some muscle. Lol.
Btw I love how you side step all my concerns i have about my country and you're only concerned about your country and the security it gets from America. Kind of a telling behavior. I mean if you don’t care about my concerns why should I care about your's? Lol.
Here's the cold hard reality of the dynamic of our positions in life. I vote in America's elections. You vote in your country's elections. My vote directly affects your life. Your vote has zero effect on mine. If America votes truly wrong just one time it could end the world as we know it in more ways than one. The 2008 crash didn't just happen in America did it? It messed most of the world up. That my friend should not be the way it is.
Honestly our most important relationship right now is with China. They make most of our crap. Lol. If they cut us off that would hurt pretty bad. That's why we wanna bring manufacturing back. Letting any one country get too much power over your fate is a bad position to be in. Not even with the possibility of becoming evil or tyrannical. If a meteor or some catastrophe did massive damage to the world countries would immediately go into survival mode. They'd put their citizens first.
If you look at the world like a Monopoly board then America, Russia, and China are the only ones playing. The rest of the world is just the squares we're trying to put hotels on.
No, i don't need you to write "invading Greenland or Canada is crazy", but i would really love for you to realise that when you say things to tune of "Trump is not perfect", that that sounds to me like a gross understatement, in the same category as e.g. "having your roof on fire is a mild inconvenience".
Look, I have friends in the US. Of course, i worry about your domestic issues and, as i mentioned somewhere else, i wish you all the best. But, somehow i don't think you would react well on me telling you how to run your internal affairs, nor am i that knowledgeable about it. But if you insist, i can give you a few tips.
My vote has zero effect on you? Well, i not only vote for my country, i also vote for the EU parliament. The EU has a combined GDP of about $22 trillion. Yours is $31 trillion. China about $20 trillion. Russia, by the way, only $2.5 trillion. So, you see, economically, the EU is a more than a factor of significance.
You mention that you are economically tied to China, and yes, that's true. But just for funsies, i looked up what the EU is exporting to the US: $620 billion for 2025. China exports "only" $525 billion to the US. And what kind of products does the EU export to the US, you ask? Well, turns out it is not just Belgian chocolate and French wine (although it would be fun to see, how $620B worth of that looks like ;-). Instead, one of the largest categories is medical equipment and medication, another is heavy machinery. So, fair to say, if the EU decided to hurt the US, you'd probably notice.
Now, it is true, that after the implosion of the Soviet Union, most European nations scaled down their military forces significantly (not Poland though, they armed the f*** up. I wouldn't want to pick a fight with those guys). But, guess what, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the US on the verge of going rogue, we're working our way back up and this time with a focus on independence of both Russia _and_ the US. This is going to take time, naturally. But keep antagonising us and this collection of otherwise stubbornly self-centered nations will align themselves against you. So, congratulations, you'll probably get what you want; a strong, independent Europe, showing you the finger, whenever we think you are acting against our interests.
And, as to the whole "don't be dependent on the US, because we can mess things up royally"-argument; the US was the "leader of the free world", because it mostly (but certainly not always) tended to act in the interest of western democracies (or to quote Churchill: "You can always count on Americans to do the right thing, after they've tried everything else"). Having said that, yes, it's finally dawned on us too, that you are entirely capable of electing a batshit crazy leader... twice. As far as i can tell, the only reason Trump is not throwing certain members of the press in jail, is because he can't... so no need to wait another election cycle to have tyrannical leaders in place, you already have them. Luckily, thanks to those checks and balances you mentioned, they are being curtailed. But, these are being sort of stress-tested right now and when i say that i fear for your democracy, i am not being hyperbolic. I mean that literally.
