Definition of “peaceful protesters” from a CBS article that the video was used in:

“Thousands of protesters gathered near the Capitol, chanting "Free, Free Palestine," and some tried to block streets ahead of Netanyahu's speech, the Associated Press reported. Police wearing gas marks blocked the crowd — which was calling for an end to the war in Gaza that has killed more than 39,000 Palestinians according to Gaza officials — from getting closer to the Capitol.

The U.S. Capitol Police said on social media that pepper spray was being deployed because some members of the crowd had "started to become violent" and failed to obey an order to move back from the police line

After the protesters were turned away by police, they wound through Capitol Hill for several blocks before gathering in front of Union Station, according to the Associated Press, where protesters climbed the flagpoles outside Union Station and replaced the American flags with Palestinian flags. At least one person was arrested, and police again deployed "chemical agents," the AP reported, causing at least two people to be treated for chemical agent effects on the eyes.”

I thought that but OP changed the title of the thread to “…Canada/ world” so he could widen the scope and keep it on topic when he wanted to post about something South of the Canadian border.

Holocaust denial, Nazis, Canadian truckers who didn’t have their money stolen, and peppers sprayed protesters though 🤷‍♂️

I saw some message boards off the CBC world section- which showed that video, which depicted the apostles as drag queens, Jesus as an obese woman or drag queen, and children in a bizzarre depiction of the last supper (as part of the Olympic opening) - it relates to Canada in that I was surprised by the number of comments calling it "Satanic" etc. Also not shown a headless corpse - holding the head and singing, and eventually the pale rider galloping towards them.
 
The Pine Beetle has been ravaging forests for years- leaving large swaths of standing dead. Jasper is a federal Park, yet the government didnt manage the world famous park, and now historic Jasper is severely damaged.

The USA has the same issues with Pine Beetle - but the President of the Day only suggested burning down the forests in a controlled manner ....

Why has the decline and death of the great forests been ignored, by both government and environmentalists and climate scientists.

and a french performance by a french band referencing french history, marie antoninette and the french revolution in an event that was all about the history and culture of france? gasp! i'm clutching all the pearls right now.

No. a bit like how Canada, Australia and New Zealand are still in effect British dominions, but are called commonwealth countries because the former is too much of a bitter pill for them to swallow.

Btw, sate is skewered meat served with a peanut or kecap manis sauce.

Christ, the thread has been re-titled again 😂 who needs anything to be topical.

World issue:

I’m more concerned about a convicted child rapist being allowed to compete in the Olympics than people depicting the last supper. They’ve even segregated said convict for his own protection.
 
If memory serves me right (and it may not because..age) there used to be a section specifically for news and current affairs. I dunno why it doesn't exist anymore but if it did, it would be topic appropriate for all the threads like this one and others regarding the election, Israel/Hamas war etc . I noticed other sections like Roleplay existing and its as dead as my love life. (Kidding nothing is as dead as that).
