Hello, there, people of the forum.

I am creating this thread to see the opinions and attitude of the other users here so I know a what type of community that this website is. I understand that this question is a huge topic to ask about, but I believe hearing your answers will give me what I need to understand your character.

MY OPINION

Firstly, I will grant my opinion.
Children cannot become transgender.
For the same reason that kids cannot have tattoos or drink.
It causes permanent damage that the child clearly doesn't understand.

THE STATISTICS

For those saying that the children were born in that way, let me refer you to the statistics. I did my research before coming here. If your child is born with gender dysphoria; the chance is 0.005% - 0.014% for males and 0.002% - 0.003% for females.

And with the current number of children and young teenagers coming out as trans does not match up with the numbers what so ever.

SO WHAT CAUSES IT?

I believe that parents and social media influence these young people to make them believe that something is wrong with their biology, and children have no reason not to trust their mothers or fathers about their health.

This causes the child to develop gender dysphoria caused by unnatural brainwashing and persuasion by the parent. I am sure by now that all of us have seen videos of parents showing off their transgender kids on TikTok

so what is your opinion ?
tell me below !

I think the question as more- * should* kids be allowed become transgender.

For the reasons you listed I agree with you.-- its well known that the societies that promote trans or have higher social acceptance to it, have higher rates of it, societies with culturally negative views on trans have far few levels of trans including kids.

I saw a post in these forums, where a user said, that most kids at a certain age in school were questioning their gender.... utter poppycock. Kids never questioned their gender when I went to school. Sexuality-yes.

I saw a video,of a trans activist, yelling at a working guy *WHO ARE YOU TO SAY THIS CHILD CANT CHANGE GENDERS* to which he replied

*Im her F*****ING FATHER* ' ------- society needs more of this to protect kids.

Dads know best. Kids cannot become transgender.

trans·gen·der
/ˌtranzˈjendər,ˌtran(t)sˈjendər/

denoting or relating to a person whose gender identity does not correspond with the sex registered for them at birth

I've seen a handful of debates pass through the forum surrounding transgender folks, but I agree wholeheartedly with @StubleU on this one... The question is not "can kids become transgender," as the title suggests, nor is it "should kids be allowed to become transgender," as @H.R. PufnStuf suggests. Someone is either cisgender or transgender, meaning their gender identity corresponds with their assigned sex at birth or it does not. One might question their gender identity, one might realize their gender identity, one might come out as their gender identity, one might start socially transitioning to match their gender identity, or one might start medically transitioning to match their gender identity, but I disagree that someone can become transgender.

its well known that the societies that promote trans or have higher social acceptance to it, have higher rates of it, societies with culturally negative views on trans have far few levels of trans including kids.
Regarding this comment, I don't disagree with you in statement, but I think you entirely missed the mark in understanding. If one belongs to a society that is largely homophobic, it's not far fetched to image there being lower rates of people coming out as homosexual. This isn't because there aren't homosexuals in that society, it's because of fear of persecution. The same logic applies to a transphobic society... Someone is much more inclined to repress their true self if it's going to compromise their safety.

That's literally it though, isn't it? It's not that there weren't any in north america until the last couple decades...it's that as a whole...north america has been homophobic and not a safe space for anyone queer. It's not that the media is pushing things on people...think of it the same way as left handed folks. We stopped correcting left handed people...so now there's more visibly left handed people. Let's also not discount the fact that "societies that promote trans" are literally thousands of years old...so... @H.R. PufnStuf rhetoric can go

Why post a question, then when a person bothers to reply in a fairly reasonable manner, then tell them
" go **** yourself " !!
Not exactly debating the subject is it.

People should be allowed to grow in a safe environment at their own pace in their own time...both kids and adults equally need space to grow, they don't just 'become' or 'choose' their gender identity or sexuality.

Just because people have different opinions/ideas/beliefs or are offended doesn't make them right.

Nobody has shown me any facts, other than presented 'facts' (pronounced fallacy), from the worlds most successful novel and the likes, that Gender Dysphoria is/isn't a thing....but I have no reason to disbelieve, and no reason to reject a person that claims to be gender dysphoric...in fact I would and I have in the past sat down with those that claim to be gender dysphoric and I have enormous empathy for them for what they have to deal with. I have seen enough to know Gender Dysphoria is REAL to them, and ultimately that is all that matters.

@DarthErica see? He went full mask off. What is wrong with this dude?

Back to the topic. Ok dude, thanks for proving what I said was true. You're transphobic. A normal person would either educate themselves on the topic or ask a trans person themselves. Kids need permission to embrace how they were born? Do you realize how f*cking insane you sound?

You're using the same logic homophobes use where they claim certain things turn kids gay (Canadian water turning the moose gay, etc). You're born with it just like I was born with A.D.D. and type 2 bi polar.

So you saw a video of a sh*tty father (probably on a hateful Rigjt Wing site because youre not a liberal like you claim) deciding what they want their kid should feel and be because they're garbage parents instead of being supportive ones? Parents like that are the major contribution to trans suicides and were responsible for many homosexuals commuting suicide. Thank GOD you have no kids and never will. We see how you do a lousy job of protecting the kids in your room. and cut the crap with "back in my day" back in your day if you weren't heterosexual you were beaten, targeted or killed. People who use this line are usually very hateful people who fit the mold of Archie Bunker.

Countries that are anti trans don't have less trans people you dumbass. They exist, they're just not open about it because it's punishable by death. You think there aren't gay people in Gaza ffs? The reason idiots think it's on the rise is because they feel comfortable with coming out and being happy with themselves. The same was said by homphobes when homosexuals were given rights, "it's so fashionable to be gay now" as if someone would choose to take a path that possibly leads them to being harmed just because of their sexuality.

Which means from my basic understanding, *becoming trans* is behavioural. Even if that one day is found to be false, its still doesnt justify allowing children to irreversibly alter the bodies .

My opinion is you’re probably Bread. If you’re not Bread, go to G00le (since the search feature is broken here) and search this site for “Bread trans” and you’ll see the topic has been done to the death, usually with Bread’s Father becoming involved

if they keep it hidden how do you know they exist.

Sounds famimilar to the ulta right tough- on- crime- crew- who tried to justify imposing massive draconian punishments, because *unreported crime* was on the rise.

There is no understanding, you're just being ignorant. Kids can't alter their body, they take hormone blockers that can be reversed. Bottom surgery is only 18+. Telling a kid what they feel is fake and mental, will make them think less of themselves and question reality. For someone who claims to have worked with trouble youth, I'm shocked. You have no empathy whatsoever.

The USA isnt the whole world btw.

Its done in Canada, but rare. Here is a trans youth saying not allowing easy access to gender affirming care is endangering youth: https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/gender-affirming-care-canada-1.6967503

According to the WPATH standards of care, medical gender-affirming care isn't recommended before puberty. They also state that parents should be involved in decisions to move ahead with treatments,

This is not a debate regarding youth medically transitioning or altering their bodies in any way. The topic is "can kids become transgender."

You're taking one case and applying it to all. Not all trans people experience dysphoria. Trans people existed before the birth of Christ and are well documented in Greece as well as in Hindu mymythology. This isnt an opinion, theres zero proof that trans is a behavioral issue and that's pretty wild you're putting it in the same category as something I myself have which untreated in many, becomes a behavioral issue.

Try to have some compassion, especially for trans kids who are already at odds with society because of people like you who fear what you dony understand.

how does a kid *become* transgender without this:
  • Social and psychological care, such as assistance with coming out to family, changing one's name or even changing appearances through clothing and haircuts.
  • Medical care through steps such as puberty blockers and gender affirming hormones.
  • Surgical care, which can include steps like top and bottom surgery.

You're not getting it. They don't become, they are. Like dude...lol what's going on with you?

When did you become Caucasian? See how stupid it sounds?

I think the answer to that is probably the same as going into a room of 10 people and knowing that 2-3 are likely to be left-handed without declaring which hand they write with.
ok fair enough.

but to me It seems is more we think its likely 2or 3 are left handed, but someone comes along and says no it way higher lefties they just wont say so.

Again, as nearly everyone else has said in this thread, one does not become transgender. What you're describing are various levels of transitioning. Transgender is an adjective, transition is a verb. I'll refer you to my prior post:
trans·gen·der

I didnt create the topic, im replying to it. You might want to read the title and OP.

You saying children are trans, simply because because they say there are. oK.

I get how that can be the perception and I won’t deny I’ve thought that myself in the past but I try to draw on my own experiences to look for similarities.

When I was at school there was one openly gay kid in the whole school. Nowadays you see them all walking to school holding hands etc.

Not that sexuality is the same as gender but I’m using that as an example to show how societal changes and acceptance mean that people feel more inclined to be open about themselves.

If a parent or anyone else somehow forces their child to change gender (and I’m yet to see any credible sources saying this is a real issue) then that’s child abuse and should be dealt with accordingly.

If kids cannot have tattoos and cannot be transgender, are you implying that magically on the day of their 18th/21st (whatever is the legal age in your country) they instantly can be transgender because they can now get tattoos?

I don’t agree with trans that’s a given. But that’s ridiculous.

No im not.

I'm saying that the individual gets to determine their own identity, and part of that identity is their gender identity. If someone identifies with a gender identity that does not correspond with their assigned sex at birth, then they are transgender. If someone identifies with a gender identity that corresponds with their assigned sex at birth, then they are cisgender. The idea of me dictating your identity seems a bit wrong, no?

The only gay kid in my high school got bullied, had rumors made about him that he had AIDS, was beat up and eventually added to move after getting his jaw broken on the bus. He was one of the last people to get on the bus, front seats were taken, he went to the emergency exit and a jock stood up told him to turn around and fo back. He sat down and the kid rocked him. He was knocked out cold and his friends found it hilarious.

This is what trans kids deal with but even worse than what homosexuals did because of social media where people now doxx trans kids or people to encourage violence.

If he's ever shaved, taken supplements, weight trained, used products to improve his image, he's already used gender affirming care just like trans people or people with pronouns. I highly doubt he's never been to the gym.

I wasn't comfortable with my body, so I started weight lifting at age 21 and never stopped. That's no different than this case.

This is what trans kids deal with but even worse than what homosexuals did because of social media where people now doxx trans kids or people to encourage violence
This is exactly what I mean. Trans people now are dealing with the same thing gay people were dealing with 30 years ago. Similar prejudices, similar views. similar questions being asked by people (including myself) who don’t really understand it because we’re the same gender that we outwardly appear to be.

I spoke with another user earlier regarding similar threads and its personal perception.

Ink posting only one openly gay student
Boba posting a gay student being bullied

I was quite fortunate I was never bullied for being gay. “picked on” , uh maybe mostly with the odd insults but they were never met with physical assaults - most I remained friends with into uni then ofc life goes on.

I think it’s the way it’s perceived onto people.

Edit picked on was by girls 🤣

I think that’s right

The openly gay kid would kick the **** out of anyone that insulted him. We had one who wasn’t open but definitely was gay and he killed himself because of the bullying he got

I read up on it and a lot of my followers on X are LGBTQ/trans who post about their struggles or share the harassment on there. I spoke to my uncle today about this, like...why can't people just focus on their life instead of telling others how to live theirs? It's very negative energy to have and toxic. Why grief someone just because you don't understand them? If you're (not you) confused, fine but don't make your own conclusions because of some video you watched or by applying out dated talking points.

@DarthErica is a hero to me be a they're open about this and from what I gather, they have a lot of patience and are willing to explain how they feel as long as you're respectful.

Umm if your numbers aren't based on the number of people coming out as trans, then where do they come from???

I don't think under 18s should be able to have huge permanent modifications done because they might regret it, but non-permanent changes like hairstyle, clothing, and maybe puberty blockers are perfectly okay.

I think that’s right

There's no "Gay gene" either. That doesn't mean gay people don't exist or that they aren't really gay. They ARE.

Young people take a while to grow into themselves, puberty is confusing as feck and different social pressures amplify that. The good news is that eventually things settle down a bit and you know who you are and that's when people should make the final decision whether they want to take it further. Up until then if someone wants to experiment with being a different gender then so what? It's no business of anyone but the people involved.

It's 2023 FFS. Stop being obsessed with what people do with who and what genitalia they have. It's none of your business. Butt out.

I am creating this thread……………….so I know a what type of community that this website is.

The issue with your question is that this isn’t “one” type of community. It’s really a melting pot of all types of people from all over the world.
And as such (as you’ve seen) you’re going to get all sorts of opinions and attitudes. Especially about a topic as polarizing as transgender children. So once this thread is finally closed I’m not sure you’ll really get your answer. You’ll just have a bunch of differing opinions (and fighting, lots of fighting) 😂

Enjoy your thread ✌🏻

Just because I see this argument being shared, let me just debunk that here. The chance of a child being born with gender dysphoria which all transgenders have is 0.005% - 0.0014% which is just for males. The chance is even less for females.

Please stop using the argument that children were born with this mindset because with the current number of transgenders out there just debunks it. The chance of all of the trans people being born as a transgender is so unexplanaibly low.

The only reason why there is such a sudden uproar of people coming out is because of millenial parents pushing this belief on to their kids, causing them to think that they are actually transgender.

Parents are affirming their children and pushing this agenda so hard that they snap out of it when they are older after the permanent damage is already done.

The amount of people who regret transition is frightening.

There's no "Gay gene" either. That doesn't mean gay people don't exist or that they aren't really gay. They ARE.

Believe it or not, most cases of real gender dysphoria in male babies usually grow up to be gay men. So yeah... juSt thought you would like to know.

Not every trans person experiences dysphoria. Js.

The rest just sounds like bad parenting, which if its being forced is an issue. But can't really say that every single case is being forced

Most are forced which is unfortunate.
How can you say that not every trans person has dysphoria ?

That is literally the main reason why people be trans.

Yup, seems like OP is Bread.

Most are forced which is unfortunate.

They cam say it because it's true. ****** is your friend, don't be shy.

Well I am, and can safely say I've never experienced dysphoria from it. That and one ****** search, literally first result says that not all do.

I don't believe putting on a wig and just saying you are trans counts.
You actually have to have some condition.

The only reason people become transgender without dysphoria is to:
- get out of legal punishment (male gets moved to female prison)
- compete in women's sports
- just to be a creep
- to pull a dylan mulvaney and get social media points

I'm not convinced it's actually Bread but it's definitely a Bread-a-like.

It's the usual agenda pushing with no sources cited for figures and claimed facts.
These types of people are weird and often people avoid them. If you have them in your family, you gotta be really liquors up to tolerate them during the holidays and people have to be sure not to bring up some topics.

People out of touch with reality are a bore.

....or, another reason: you get to a point in your life and think "I've given this a bash, im not a fan, I fancy a change to better suit how I wish to be seen"

Simple as that in most cases 🤷‍♀️

And here comes the bigotry.

Frankly what people decide to identify as or experiment as is none of your or anyone else's business. Nor are their reasons for doing so automatically nefarious or even likely to be so in the majority of cases. Their reasons are private and personal to each individual unless they decide to share them. Even then it's none of your or anyone's business.

This unhealthy obsession with what people choose to do in their private lives and what gender and/or genitalia is involved is frankly creepy. IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

I just want to protect the kids from the BS that liberals make up.

The only reason why there is such a sudden uproar of people coming out is because of millenial parents pushing this belief on to their kids, causing them to think that they are actually transgender.

Parents are affirming their children and pushing this agenda so hard that they snap out of it when they are older after the permanent damage is already done.
Most are forced which is unfortunate.
If you honestly believe that any parent would wish for a transgender child, much less force their child to be transgender, then this isn't a conversation even worth having. Do you know what most parents want? Happy, healthy children. Transgender youth go through many hurdles that cisgender children do not have to face, and no parent wants their child to experience a harder path through life than absolutely necessary. Good parents will love and accept their transgender child for exactly who they are, but no parent is forcing their child to be transgender.

Butt out.
Im actually replying to a public thread thanks.. I made no reference to gays as its off topic.

If by experiment you mean *gender affirming therapy* I disagree.

Hello, there, people of the forum.

I am creating this thread to see the opinions and attitude of the other users here so I know a what type of community that this website is. I understand that this question is a huge topic to ask about, but I believe hearing your answers will give me what I need to understand your character.

So then your original post above was a lie. Got it.

I just want to protect the kids from the BS that liberals make up.

Then why not just create a thread and state that?? Why be disingenuous and hide your true intentions by saying you “just want people's opinions”?

And you really think by creating this thread you’re “protecting the kids”?? 🙄

You seem a Lil angry there bud.
Listen, man. I don't care what people do.

That's your overactive imagination at work again. Nobody "forces" anyone to be transgender or gay. Liberal people tend to be quite tolerant. The only forcing I've ever seen is right wing old people trying to force their own perverted values on others. Oh and of course conservative religious bigots.

You might want to think about your argument because all I'm seeing here is non sequiturs.

Oh and I'm not angry, just sick of unnecessary and unwanted bigotry.

"Trans people are sinners"

"Whats your source?"

"This book about talking snakes that talks about stoning people who wear ugly Christmas tree sweaters"

"K, cya"

Im actually replying to a public thread thanks.. I made no reference to gays as its off topic.

If by experiment you mean *gender affirming therapy* I disagree.
You didn't need to mention "gays", they were pointing out your strawman argument. You probably think genes are the things you use a leather belt for.

Im actually replying to a public thread thanks.. I made no reference to gays as its off topic.

No. I mean individuals choosing to express themselves however they want as is their right. Without interference.

I chose to introduce the gay gene argument to show how ridiculous your own trans gene statement was.

Do keep up.

You mean the ones who tend to excuse pedophilia in the Church/ignore it but wanna claim trans/drag queens/gay people adopting a surrogate baby are the pedos?

The ones who watched Trump hold a Bible upside down like he's Satanic, or watched him say this :

And we're like "He has core Christian values!"?

Just because I see this argument being shared, let me just debunk that here. The chance of a child being born with gender dysphoria which all transgenders have is 0.005% - 0.0014% which is just for males. The chance is even less for females.

Please stop using the argument that children were born with this mindset because with the current number of transgenders out there just debunks it. The chance of all of the trans people being born as a transgender is so unexplanaibly low.
Again... stop pulling info that isn't remotely true out of your ass.
The only reason why there is such a sudden uproar of people coming out is because of millenial parents pushing this belief on to their kids, causing them to think that they are actually transgender.
Really? A lot of trans kids' parents hate them and even disown them for it... that's a ridiculous thing to say.
The amount of people who regret transition is frightening.
According to the average result of 27 studies across different countries that surveyed the percentage of people who expressed regret after having a transition surgery, about 1% of people who transitioned ended up regretting it. For context, the regret/dissatisfaction rate for a knee replacement surgery is around 20%.

ok so you introduced a false analogy. You might want to read up on the genetic info regarding gays though -there is genetic evidence , just no gay gene. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/search/research-news/4482/

Kids would most likely not question their gender nearly as much if schools, the media. social media didnt advocate it. Although the only proof I could offer is rates of trans identification were essentially non existant until radical feminists introduced the idea that gender was a social construct in that late forties and again in the 60s..

Children are not property of the state, so i take issue of special interest groups or teachers confusing kids with things they otherwise probably would never have thought of.

How much do you want to bet the regret comes from harassment or not actual trans people. People like that puffer fish who got surgery to look Korean then regretted it and claims he "de transitioned"? Oh, he's with the Right Wing grift now too.

You just can't stop making yourself look worse, can you? You claim to be a liberal but are using Right Wing echo chamber talking points by using the lie that schools are teaching kids to be trans. They're not. You can't make someone gay or trans and were at a point where kids have trans or gay parents so it's important to let them know they exist. They're not playing porn in school. Ffs I knew about being attracted to the opposite sex in 2nd grade, as did a lot of other kids who bullied girls because they liked them. They're teaching to love someone regardless of how they were born.

I think the question as more- * should* kids be allowed become transgender.

For the reasons you listed I agree with you.-- its well known that the societies that promote trans or have higher social acceptance to it, have higher rates of it, societies with culturally negative views on trans have far few levels of trans including kids.
That's because people are a lot less likely to come out if they might literally be killed for it lol.
I saw a post in these forums, where a user said, that most kids at a certain age in school were questioning their gender.... utter poppycock. Kids never questioned their gender when I went to school. Sexuality-yes.
Really? Never met a boy who wanted to wear makeup or a dress? Never met a boy who acted "feminine" and didn't really fit any aspects of stereotypical masculinity at all? Because that's a big part of what gender identity is.

Not supporting your kids' choices is what's best to protect kids? And do you also agree with the parents who disown their kids for being trans, in your interest of what's best for kids? My god.

It was introduced to illustrate your own ridiculous trans gene statement. There's a gene associated with but not necessarily indicative of homosexuality. It can equally be present in straight people. Things are far more complicated than that.

Young people have always been uncertain of who they are or what sexuality they are. In the past strong societal pressure and outright bigotry forced them to suppress and conform. Not any more though, we live in a much healthier society and long may it last.

in my day yes I did. whats your point though

I didnt say I supported any kid being disowned. I do support the parents inherit right to guide their own kids growth, not some special interest group, lobby or the like.

An example is schools allowing kids to change their names, pronouns etc without parental consent or or beginning any form of gender affirming medical care without parental consent.

@BlackLivesMatter you ok with the depicting a dragon puppet as hitler, im personally traumatized as I identify as a dragon.

your doing it again, now you conflate gender with sexuality- Trans say those are different- am I wrong ....

Or at the very least you tried to use gay issues in place of trans issues.

Make up your mind please.

My belief (mind you the definition of a belief is something that is held true regardless of whether or not it is grounded by objective fact) is that this question applies differently to different portions of our population. That being said. I’m not very much a belief type of person, so, I will give as many facts as I can.

For the albeit small but nonetheless important group of people that are born intersex or some variation of…… absolutely it’s okay. I think it’s insane to choose the gender of someone who obviously displays characteristics of both genders or cannot be put into the obvious categories of male or female upon first glance. This category of people are only born 1-4 times in every 2000 births. The figure is shaky because of obvious cultural stresses and recording errors. That would still put the conservative estimate for the population of this category of people somewhere around 5.6 million in the United States, which is by no means a small number. The obvious problem is that if you assign a person their gender before their personality has had time to form, it may not match what they feel as an adult human being.

This is an issue that has been around for a very long time. My belief is that they are sort of a third gender. A bridge of the sexes so to speak. I don’t believe it to be “unnatural” or a “disorder” myself, as you can find many examples of intersex species in nature.

As for the rest of the normies…. No way. Kids will grow as people well past an adult age, and any *major* changes to one’s body shouldn’t be performed until they are of an age to accurately understand the consequences thereof. Past that, I can’t really say that I have an opinion. Your body. Your life. Do what you want with it as long as your actions aren’t hurting anyone else.

I think that the biggest disconnect in the conversation here are the actual numbers of people that are born this way. It seems like a small percentage, but when coupled with the actual population of the United States, the number becomes much larger (similar to the way someone from a rural area would not have seen the same impact that someone living in New York would have seen, because of population densities, with CoVid). 5.6 million people relative to the population of the entirety of the United States is a small number, but 5.6 million people is still a literal **** ton of people.

I think that if more people were aware of the actual amounts of people born this way, and the actual definitions of intersex babies, that a more valid conversation could then be had about things.

Just some thoughts.

in my day yes I did. whats your point though
My point is that you can't say trans kids didn't exist in your day when you just admitted that you knew kids who didn't fit the typical identity traits of the gender they were assigned at birth.
I didnt say I supported any kid being disowned. I do support the parents inherit right to guide their own kids growth, not some special interest group, lobby or the like.
A lot - I'd even say the majority - of parents who don't support their kid transitioning are doing it out of bigotry, not a goodwilled attempt to guide their kid's growth. Part of being a good parent is supporting your kid (in most situations, at least).
@BlackLivesMatter you ok with the depicting a dragon puppet as hitler, im personally traumatized as I identify as a dragon.
We were at page 4... as you like to say, Godwin's law had to be invoked.

My point is that you can't say trans kids didn't exist in your day when you just admitted that you knew kids who didn't fit the typical identity traits of the gender they were assigned at birth.

im not trying to say they didnt exist. Im saying it wasnt heard of essentially. Im saying there were fewer because it wasnt for lack of better words- pushed. The types you describe a few were probably gay, and maybe they were experimenting at what then was called transvestitism. ( the girls never... I heard of any wanting to be boys, although we had the *tom boy* ) one of I know of ended up being Lez

I realize its anecdotal

godwins law proven again agreed

Fun fact! Not only do transgender people think that gender identity and sexuality are different, everyone who is familiar with the definition of each support this belief too!

gen·der i·den·ti·ty
noun
a person's innate sense of their gender

sex·u·al·i·ty
noun
a person's identity in relation to the gender or genders to which they are typically attracted; sexual orientation

My gender identity may correlate with he, she, or they, but my sexuality correlates with gay, straight, or asexual. (Note, this is not an exhaustive list, just a few examples to illustrate the difference.)

OK @H.R. PufnStuf let's clarify this now I'm back at my laptop and can quote and format properly.

I said this:

Note the part I've emboldened for clarity. If you'd read this properly and not rushed to divert the argument with pedantry, you'd have grasped the rather obvious meaning of the statement. "Who they are" or "What sexuality they are" as in where on the gender spectrum they fall and what their sexuality may be.

Instead, you rushed to divert and came back with this:

your doing it again, now you conflate gender with sexuality- Trans say those are different- am I wrong ....

Or at the very least you tried to use gay issues in place of trans issues.

Poor debating technique at best, diversionary tactics at worst.

You might not like the idea of young people determining their own future by personal experimentation but it's a damn sight healthier for them to do so than for your "I know best" imposition attempting to wrest their personal freedom and future from them.

As I've said several times during this thread, it's nobody's business but the individuals themselves. Society has an unhealthy and prurient obsession with who is doing what with who. It's mostly driven by old people with either very conservative views or religious fundamentalists/extremists. I'll further add that attempting to impose control and force compliance has never worked in the long term. Good parents support and guide but let the individuals find their own paths through life and are there when their children need them. Bad parents force their own opinions and "morals"on their children and set expectations that rarely work.

We're not in the 1900s now.

The average tiktok experience will prove that parents are pushing for children to be mentally unwell.

Let kids be kids.

If my nephew came to me and wanted his makeup doing, well, then, let's play makeup, if my niece wanted action man instead of barbie, that's also great, let's go get it.

I think we just need to let kids explore their own thoughts and feelings and explain it's okay to do that. My little brother once wanted to be called Colin and wouldn't answer to his own name for months. We just went along with it because he was clearly figuring himself out. It should be the same with their gender. As they age they will get a clearer answer and as long as they're supported and accepted in the initial exploration, they will feel comfortable discussing their feelings on their gender and sexuality more articulately.

Let's not pretend this hasn't always existed. The difference is, as a society we're more aware that what prior generations would have berated children for, isn't for the best. Explaining it away as a phase is detrimental. If it turns out to be a phase, cool, if it doesn't, at least they don't feel pressured to lie and say it is to appease a parent or adult for fear of being rejected and belittled.

I think the issues come in with hormone suppressants and things prior to being at least on the older end of teen ages where they can communicate and that's where there needs to be therapists/counselling and medical intervention to establish that it is the correct route for someone and the safest, healthiest way to do so.

Tl;Dr don't be a ****, let kids be kids, educate yourself, and support your kids regardless of their gender identity or sexuality. If it continues until they're old enough to communicate it clearly, seek the help of therapists and doctors to gain more information and choices.

Not every trans person wants to have gender reassignment surgery.

This is actually factually incorrect information. Gender has been recognized as a social construct from sociologists and anthropologists since they started observing gender roles in history and various other cultures. My aunt's an internationally known professor emeritus of sociology, I grew up learning about it 🙂

I'm going to add something else. I don't believe in performing any gender reaffirming medical procedures or prescribing anything that could permanently alter biology to children, at all. I do believe we need to let kids be themselves and experiment with gender roles in this day and age, because society is changing, and we are recognizing that the gender roles in our society that worked for the last couple hundred years don't fit our current way of life, and that's ok. Maybe we need to stop putting so much of a focus on gender roles in general and just let people be their unique selves without trying to put a label on everything.

appealing to authority. because with all due respect your aunts qualifications dont mean you are correct, she might be. But more importantly-

I agree with you, what I should have said to be more clear- is in this society, in our times, gender as a social construct was revived in the 1960s by radical feminists. it gains a lot of traction in the 1970s. .Gender identity as a concept was popularized by John Money in the 1960s

When was the first use of gender?

In 1955, the controversial and innovative sexologist John Money first used the term “gender” in a way that we all now take for granted: to describe a human characteristic. Money's work broke new ground, opening a new field of research in sexual science and giving currency to medical ideas about human sexuality.

-source (John Money) He founded the Gender Identity Clinic at Johns Hopkins University and formulated, defined, and coined the term “gender role” and later expanded it to gender-identity role. 👀👀

it is mentioned in the UCF and many other places (in the states) https://www.ucf.edu/news/gender-identity/

(UBC is top shelf for those lucky enough to have wandered it.)

I can't love this post enough. Despite all the disgusting ignorant takes by some, there's more good than bad people on this forum and we all ban together when it comes to a morally wrong situation taking place.

Thank you for the kind words. I do appreciate it in light of everything that’s happened in the last 24 hours to hear nice things for a change. But I’m no hero I’m just me. I just try to present myself as who I am. No one has to accept or like me, just give me the same respect you would any other human being is all I ask. Get to know me. Ya might find we actually have more in common than ya thought.

My gay cousin used to dress up as Storm by putting his white blanket around his head, he was only 6 I think, it's when the Xmen series first came out in 92 or 93. My family didn't say anything and I saw nothing wrong with it, I didn't even know what gay was. His sister teases him now like "Mom, how did you not know he was gay then?" They're both gay and my family never had a problem with it.

But the thing is, gender roles as a social construct have existed in many cultures and civilizations for thousands of years, and have not always been tied in with biological sex. The new usage of the term "gender" to describe the social construct alongside biological sex just follows the natural evolution of science and language. We have come incredibly far in the past 100 years or so with scientific advancement and medicine and it would only follow suit that language would change and evolve to fit in with this.

You're a hero to many on here. You're very up front with who you are and don't care what people think.
If I can inspire anyone especially young people to embrace who they are and love themselves in the face of bigotry than I feel like I did something good with my life. Not looking to change the world, I just would like to see people get more educated about this topic and open your mind to things you’ve previously closed it off too. Old people aren’t likely to change, but many others can learn acceptance once they know there’s nothing to be afraid of from trans people. We love like everyone else. We laugh when we’re happy, we cry when we’re sad. We get angry at injustices. We celebrate good news. We just want to live and love like anyone else. We only ask to be seen like everyone else and have all the same rights and freedoms as everyone else does.

You'll have to excuse me, as I've never had Tick Tock, much less used the platform to conduct a transgender youth study. What other conclusions have you drawn from your time there?

Tiktok is the platform where all if not most transgender crazy people and woke leftists find other people to affirm their beliefs and delusions. Most big "transgender" people on the platform target children as a way to introduce them via coercion to be transgender themselves.

The way that kids and young people become transgender today isn't through some natural means such as really being diagnosed with dysphoria and becoming transgender to treat it; they become that way because adults trick them on the platform to think there is something wrong with them .

Tiktok is driven by algorithms. If you're seeing that stuff then you're looking for it.

Says a lot really.

I do look for it and I do become aware of it.
I mostly bring it up during arguments like this.

How can I make the argument without having evidence to back it?
If I made the argument without knowing - I would be lying.

I'm glad my family is accepting and we don't have to deal with that. Older people typically are not going to change just like how personalities can't change when they're hard wired into your brain after puberty but that's just laziness on their part and convincing themselves the old ways were the only right ones.

You're the only one in here who is looking crazy. Tik Tok is full of transphobia that you watch, they're not actual trans people you're watching. You're watching that terroristic scumbag Libs of Tik Tok (who blocked me after I called her a terrorist for encouraging bomb threats towards children's hospitals. You're literally scared of rainbows.

You look it up because it'd a coping mechanism for your misery. You want to misplace your own happiness by contributing it to other problems you see fit whether it's blaming it on society, "wokeness" or a person who identifies as a woman who was born biologically a man. The fact you invest this much time into caring about how people live their lives when you haven't even spoken a word to them is proof that you are not living a sinless happy life.

You do not represent the teachings of Jesus. Jesus even prevented the stoning of transgendered people and the Bible had references to trans people removed. A lot of the older verses even older than the new testament were discarded because they were written by women.

The transgendered person that carried water with Jesus to the last super which Jesus did not condemn. How about the trans people known as eunuchs thar helped further the word of God?

You don't know your material because you rely on memes and Tik Tok videos that reaffirm your hate yet bitch about people who need gender reaffirming care.

😆 @ tiktok being your 'evidence' 😂

Please try and understand properly.
You are making yourself look foolish.

I have proof via tiktok that there are people on tiktok pushing an agenda and specifically targeting children with their transgender belief.

You act like I am using tiktok to prove that the "earth is flat".

Oh dear, yet another agenda pusher that doesn't understand how debate and logical argument works. Let me give you some pointers.

You don't have proof from any social media platform and if you think you do then you don't understand what proof means.

Proof, or rather the data that supports a claim comes from reputable, reliable, and testable sources. Anything else is anecdotal and doesn't add to the level of proof at all.

You gather the data you need from your reputable, reliable and testable source or sources and you marshal your argument using that data. That means the whole of the data, not cherrypicked items that can be manipulated to support your world view.

While we're talking about world views, you should be prepared for those to be challenged using the technique above, and if there is good data to overturn that view then you should allow your view to be changed by the new data you've been presented. Retaining a world view in the face of good evidence/data is merely dogma and has no value in debate.

Now, off you go and gather some proper data. I'm not going to hold my breath though.

I literally said that people are pushing transgenderism and gender politics.
I used tiktok as evidence that people are pushing it.

You are just angry that I have proof that people are pushing this to kids.
I am not gonna argue with you any further because you are purely wasting my time and patience.

Try actually reading my post rather than jumping to push dogma. Why TikTok isn't "evidence" is explained clearly.

It just makes you look stupid otherwise.

How am I meant to make claims that people are pushing politics on tiktok without using tiktok as evidence ?

You are so dumb, I am just gonna block you now.
Or ignore you.

Whatever this site uses.
