How to lose weight successfully (and keep it off)

I just eat one cereal and one dinner per day. that's how to keep it off and stay at a good weight, just drink black coffee or water

I was really big but so far have managed to lose about 40kg/88lbs in 9 months from a mixture of lifestyle changes. Here's what has worked for me:
- Changing my mindset around food. Learning how many calories were in what foods, doing research on biology and nutrition to understand things like basal metabolic rate etc, realizing no foods are "bad"
- Counting calories for the first couple of months on an app to get an idea of how much food I needed in a day
- Swapping foods that were processed and had higher caloric content for foods that are more nutritious and filling. For instance swapping white bread for wholegrain, adding extra vegetables to pasta to reduce carbs etc
- Reducing portion sizes, eating slower and having a glass of water with dinner
- YT Yoga tutorials!
- Swapping processed snacks for things like raw vegetables, salad, hard boiled eggs
- No sugary or milky beverages! Black coffee, peppermint and green tea or water

I think it's all about mindset and lifestyle changes. Everything in moderation.

Like @Schism said it’s a lot about mindset.
I went from 210 pounds- 140/145 pounds in about a year.
Mindset was all about for me. I didn’t let myself think food was bad/good.
I lost my weight by cutting down my calories( I was eating about 3,000 a day so I went down to about 1,600/day.
I still let myself have the treats. Even if you have one treat a day you can still be in a calorie deficit and lose weight.
I did swaps like schism said as well! At fast food I would get something with more protein in it, cause protein is going to help you stay more full for longer and it’s going to make you happy.
For example: At Taco Bell I used to order nachos and a soft taco.. now I get the protein power bowl.
Everything is fine in moderation.
I did intermittent fasting for some of my weight loss. This can be a good tool but you have to watch out because it can lead to binging.
I wish you the best of luck! ❤️

I like going to gym and it's the best way for me to lose weight. It's crucial to set realistic goals, stay patient, and avoid crash diets or extreme measures. I can also recommend vitamins from partner pharmacy. Remember, progress takes time, and it's okay to seek professional guidance if needed.

To lose weight successfully and sustainably, focus on a balanced approach:

  1. Healthy Eating: Opt for whole, unprocessed foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Portion control is key.
  2. Regular Exercise: Combine cardio, strength training, and flexibility exercises for overall fitness.
  3. Consistent Habits: Establish consistent eating and exercise habits. Consistency is more effective than short-term diets.
  4. Mindful Eating: Pay attention to hunger cues and eat mindfully, enjoying each bite.
  5. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, which can aid in weight loss and appetite control.
  6. Adequate Sleep: Ensure you get enough sleep, as lack of sleep can hinder weight loss efforts.
  7. Stress Management: High stress can impact weight, so engage in stress-reducing activities like meditation or hobbies.
Remember, gradual changes are more sustainable than drastic ones. Focus on creating a healthy lifestyle rather than just "dieting."

Stop eating so much damn food. Its as simple as that.

You dont need to eat salads everyday.
You dont need to excercise everyday (though it helps)

Just stop eating a bunch of CRAP

My secret is that I used to be 180 pounds then I got to 135 pounds in 3-4 years, what happened was that I got addicted to those just dance games and I played them for 6 hours per day (with a no sugar monster) 🤷🏼‍♀️

Instead of following strict diets, I believe in just eating normal, healthy food. Here are some things that have worked for me and might work for you too:

  1. Eat mindfully: I try to pay attention to when I'm hungry and when I'm full. Eating slowly without distractions helps me enjoy my food more and prevents overeating.
  2. Choose whole foods: I focus on eating lots of fruits, veggies, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats. These foods are not only good for weight loss but also keep me feeling energized and satisfied.
  3. Watch portion sizes: It's easy to eat too much without realizing it. Using smaller plates and measuring portions helps me control how much I eat.
  4. Stay hydrated: Drinking water throughout the day helps me stay hydrated and can sometimes prevent me from feeling hungry when I'm actually just thirsty.
  5. Stay active: Finding activities I enjoy, like walking or dancing, makes it easier for me to stay active. Exercise is great for weight loss and overall health.
  6. Get enough sleep: I make sure to get 7-9 hours of sleep each night. Being well-rested helps me make better food choices and resist cravings.
  7. Manage stress: Stress can lead to overeating, so I try to find healthy ways to cope, like going for a walk or practicing deep breathing exercises.
Remember, everyone's journey to weight loss is different, and it's important to find what works best for you. Making small, sustainable changes over time is key to long-term success.

This is Fabulous! This is fantastic.

Hi there @annamavis, thank you so much for sharing this. This is excellent information. Have a lovely day. ALL smiles! ALL good! Cheers!

One of the best weight loss tips is to focus on creating sustainable habits rather than quick fixes. Incorporating a balanced diet, regular exercise, and staying hydrated are key. Also, consider talking to your healthcare provider about any supplements or medications that may support your weight loss journey. Canadian Pharmacy Partnership offer a variety of options and professional guidance to help you reach your goals safely and effectively.

Walking is a great way to burn calories and it’s a great way to reflect on things or clear your mind. If you’ve got a step counting app on your phone, try to aim for at least 5000-10000 steps a day. As an experienced walker/hiker, I usually aim for 10000-15000 a day.

I'll only walk if we hold hands.

ima add "experienced walker" to my resume
How much walking do you do in a regular day? Surely you can you provide us with a screenshot of your step counter? This is how many I have done last week:

Eat healthy foods, exercise regularly, and be patient. Focus on making small changes that you can stick to in the long run, rather than trying fad diets or quick fixes. With time and effort, you can reach your weight loss goals and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Yeah, I’m interested. For me, focusing on regular exercise and eating normal food without going on restrictive diets has been the way to go. I used exercise.com to create a few straightforward workout routines that fit easily into my schedule, and it’s made a huge difference. Instead of stressing over specific diets, I just stuck to eating healthy and keeping active. It’s been a more balanced approach that’s actually sustainable.

All awesome shares, I like to read them. This may sound kind of funny, but it has worked more than I realized. Just walking a lot at work (being short staffed) you walk a lot doing multiple things, eat once a day and drink a ton of water. That's what I've been doing for quite a while. Every so often I'll have a treat (sometime just a sweet tea). Also, the dance video games work 🙂

Hello @Isabella27, welcome to the forum! Well a balanced diet is key to maintain a healthy weight or to lose weight. It is essential to know the amount of calories you are consuming and the size of your portions. By doing exercise and following heahlty life you can maintain healthy weight also.

Losing weight successfully really comes down to consistency and finding what works for your body. For me, combining a low-carb diet with regular walking made a big difference. I also talked to my doctor about medical options and ended up choosing to buy ozempic online as part of my plan—it helped manage my appetite and blood sugar. Just remember to consult a healthcare provider before starting anything new.
