It's old, it's tired - it may be just the same 3 or 4 people posting, but 'What Are You Watching Now?' is a staple part of the forums so needs must ….

OT: Nobody's Fool

'Trying to get back on her feet, wild child Tanya (Tiffany Haddish) looks to her buttoned-up, by the book sister Danica (Tika Sumpter) to help her get back on track. As these polar opposites collide - with hilarious and sometimes disastrous results - Tanya discovers that Danica's picture-perfect life - including her mysterious boyfriend - may not be what it seems.'

Char Man

'Two friends visit fire-ravaged Ojai, California, intent on making a fake documentary about the infamous Ojai Vampire. However, things take a bizarre and frightening turn when they learn about a different local legend: The Char Man.'

Leaving Neverland. With George Pell's sentencing today and this documentary being heavily covered in the media, (guilty or not, they are literally dancing on a dead man's grave) I thought this issue warrants a few hours of my time and emotional investment.

I started up The Order on Netflix.

The trailer for "The Order" looks interesting, but you're the only one I know watching it. How are you liking it so far? I'm intrigued by the secret society storyline!

I'm about to start watching "The Umbrella Academy." I'm also watching "Garo" and "Penn & Teller: Bull****!" ...and I recently finished watching "Bojack Horseman." 🙂

I am enjoying "The Order". If you like magic and various monsters it is pretty cool. And yeah there is a secret society! I won't spoil anything there. It does have some romance aspects as well.

Glad you are starting "The Umbrella Academy." 🙂 Maybe I'll look into "Bojack Horseman."

Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead

'Barry is a talented mechanic and family man whose life is torn apart on the eve of a zombie apocalypse. His sister, Brooke, is kidnapped by a sinister team of gas-mask wearing soldiers & experimented on by a psychotic doctor. While Brooke plans her escape Barry goes out on the road to find her & teams up with Benny, a fellow survivor - together they must arm themselves and prepare to battle their way through hordes of flesh-eating monsters in a harsh Australian bushland.'

Doctor Strange. Not often I start a movie in the morning. Never actually! Fair bit through my MCU adventure. Only a handful to go until I'm back up to Infinity War!

Greta

'
Director Neil Jordan’s horror drama features Isabelle Huppert and Chloë Grace Moretz. The latter plays a cheerful teenager who returns a handbag to an eccentric, lonely, and seemingly maternal French piano teacher who eventually proves to be a sinister, dangerous, and duplicitous character.

So tempted to get started on this but I think I'm gonna wait and binge the whole season over a weekend

OT: Last night's Game of Thrones .... and now there's only one episode left 🙁

Yeah you'll smash it with only 8 x 40 mins eps! Such an easy watch and doesn't drag in the slightest. I look forward to the eps on Monday's, but you'll love bingeing this!

I'm actually watching soccer....ugh. Only cos it's the Australian League Grand Final and it's in Perth in front of a full house (60 thousand people). Hoping the home side wins!

Killing Eve (2nd last ep of Season 2) and Travelers

Edit: Killing Eve is based on The Villanelle books originally published as a 4-part serial, later published as a full novel edition. So we can expect at least another 2 seasons after season 2 wraps up next week!

Again, 2 more eps of Travelers and today's movie mission is to watch Happy Death Day followed by Happy Death Day 2 U after dinner! Bumped John Wick Chapter 3 to tomorrow

Watched the Killing Eve season finale last night and it was an absolute cracker. Have upgraded my Foxtel package so I'm all ready for the Wentworth season premiere tomorrow night! Also trying a new show called MotherFatherSon starring Richard Gere on BBC First

Brightburn

'What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.'

Cool. I like the sound of that!!

An episode of MotherFatherSon (jury still out on this as the first ep didn't give much away, but deserves a 2nd look), an ep of Travelers, then putting on dinner, more Travelers after dinner up until Wentworth starts and that's my day done!

SO, I've watched the 3 available episodes of MotherFatherSon. I'm sold, but I do have one criticism and that is the pace of the show. Having said that, the performances are excellent. Despite having a big name in Richard Gere, it's actually Helen McCrory who is the real star of this show (quite sexy too @ 50 years young) and I now understand why the title begins with 'Mother'. Young Billy Howle is also quite solid. Another quality British drama, failing to disappoint!

Just an ep of Travelers before I call it a night.

Edit: Cancelled that as I completely forgot about the World Cup opener. Despite being a cloudy day, the pictures coming out of London are stunning! Gonna crash and listen on ABC radio courtesy of the BBC 5 Live feed. I'll be asleep in no time - NOT cos it's boring, but because the commentary actually relaxes me!

Just finished the second season of Killing Eve. Omg, that's a great series, and seriously worth it. Now that GoT is over, I'm looking for something to watch here and there. I was thinking of starting Fear of the Walking Dead, but meh...think I'm over zombies for now. :shock1:

This week's ep of MotherFatherSon. It's getting good now that the characters and plot lines have been well & truly established. Did take 4 eps to fully warm up!

The Dead Don't Die

'Unusual occurrences begin to unfold in the small and uneventful town of Centerville, from animals behaving oddly to irregular periods of daylight. However, the most unexpected event proves to be the most serious as corpses begin to leave their graves to attack the townspeople. The town's fight for survival is helmed by a cast of recognizable faces in filmmaker Jim Jarmusch's genre-bending horror comedy film.' -IMDb

This weeks MotherFatherSon & Wentworth. Bumping Big Little Lies & The Handmaid's Tale (to which we have 3 eps available - 4 after tonight) to next week!

Just finished the 3rd & final season of Travelers. Still hoping that after December 14 2021, when Netflix no longer have exclusive rights, this show will find it's way back via another network.

And, fashionably late to the party as always, I'm about to start Chernobyl after reading an article today about how free-to-air channels in Australia are struggling to compete with satellite and streaming services:

"The free-to-air networks aren’t only battling quantity. They’re also fighting quality. Foxtel’s Chernobyl, which details the 1986 nuclear disaster is the top-rated TV show of all time on IMDb."
