For the sake of women everywhere, women need to start standing up and speaking up against transgender athletes who want to compete alongside them.

There is nothing comparable or fair about a trans woman competing against a woman.

There is a biological difference between a man and a womans body. This is a scientifical fact. During puberty, men will generally develop longer and denser bones, more muscle tissue, more strength, more speed, greater height, and greater lung capacity than women. These differences provide men with a performance advantage that doesnt dissappear even after transgender women suppress testosterone levels or surgically change their bodies.

The reason we have womens sports is because men dominate the top spots in the vast majority of sports worldwide due to their biological advantages.

When you start looking at transgender women in womens sports youll start to see a pattern that usually puts trans women in the dominating field (breaking world records, first place championships etc.) This all due to the biological advantages of being born a male.

The opposite becomes true when you look at transgender men and its also the reason you dont see transgender men dominating mens sports. Because they are at a scientific and biological disadvantage due to being born as a biological female.

All of this is not to say trans athletes can not compete in sports. It is to say they need their own division much like special olympics. It is a compromise and one that gender dysphoric people are unfortunately likely to not want to partake in.

TLDR Women sports exists because of the exclusion of male athletes. If they want to keep existing then trans athletes need their own division as they are essentially including biological advantages of male athletes into womens sports.

I think what this debate is actually asking though is whether people that are of a male birth sex should be allowed to compete in women's sports. Which opens up a whole different can of worms as to whether or not sports should be specific to male and female sex instead of man and woman gender, and how that would be enforced and how folks who don't have a standard chromosomal makeup or folks who don't have binary reproductive organs or folks who were born with reproductive organs that don't match their chromosomal makeup would be able to compete... There's a big rabbit hole there. Anywhoo, I will not be weighing in on the topic of this debate, but if you're actually attempting to continue this thread and conduct it like a real debate and not a trans bashing party, using appropriate terminology goes a long way in defending your stance.

Ok Elroy. I will answer you. You weren’t mean in your response so I will answer in kind. For one you have to understand that myself and transgender women who are undergoing HRT which stands for hormone replacement therapy means that our bodies are no longer the same as they were before. So for example my muscle mass isn’t the same as it would be. If you start even younger than I did it could change even bone structure with a more feminine structure. So it’s not just a “guy in a dress”. So with hormone replacement therapy it does change the physiology of a person. Both mentally and physically. So a transgender woman competing in sports is not a guy. It is in fact a woman who has undergone much treatment both medically and psychologically. Much like myself. So I have no hate. But I will call out transphobia when I see it. I dont mean to offend anyone. I simply want to educate people and open eyes when I can is all.

I have never played woman's sport, so I wouldn't know therefore I have no opinion what-so-ever.

I know I have played sports where both genders can be involved and compete against each other and I have been beaten by good female players through my teens and early 20's.

So my personal opinion is it is a tough subject, it is divisive, probably more divisive than it needs to be, and no one is going to be happy with the outcomes.

Genuine sufferers of Gender Dysphoria have it tough and it is distressing watching someone try and consolidate mind and body.

Some retrieved studies present data pertaining to maintained BMD in transgender women after many years of testosterone suppression. One such study concluded that “BMD is preserved over a median of 12.5 years”

Given the maintenance of BMD and the lack of a plausible biological mechanism by which testosterone suppression might affect skeletal measurements such as bone length and hip width, we conclude that height and skeletal parameters remain unaltered in transgender women, and that sporting advantage conferred by skeletal size and bone density would be retained despite testosterone reductions compliant with the IOC’s current guidelines. This is of particular relevance to sports where height, limb length and handspan are key (e.g. basketball, volleyball, handball) and where high movement efficiency is advantageous.

MUSCLE
The collective evidence from these studies suggests that 12 months, which is the most commonly examined intervention period, of testosterone suppression to female-typical reference levels results in a modest (approximately − 5%) loss of lean body mass or muscle size (Table 4). No study has reported muscle loss exceeding the − 12% found by Gooren and Bunck after 3 years of therapy. We, therefore, conclude that the muscle mass advantage males possess over females, and the performance implications thereof, are not removed by the currently studied durations (4 months, 1, 2 and 3 years) of testosterone suppression in transgender women.

CARDIO/ENDURANCE
No controlled longitudinal study has explored the effects of testosterone suppression on endurance-based performance.
Thus, while a reduction in hemoglobin is strongly predicted to impact aerobic capacity and reduce endurance performance in transgender women, it is unlikely to completely close the baseline gap in aerobic capacity between males and females.

CONCLUSION
The data presented here demonstrate that superior anthropometric, muscle mass and strength parameters achieved by males at puberty, and underpinning a considerable portion of the male performance advantage over females, are not removed by the current regimen of testosterone suppression permitting participation of transgender women in female sports categories. Rather, it appears that the male performance advantage remains substantial. Currently, there is no consensus on an acceptable degree of residual advantage held by transgender women that would be tolerable in the female category of sport.

I agree with everything said in this scientific study. You can argue that these studies were largely performed by MTF transgender participants who have already experienced puberty in some part but then that would mean you need to convince me that we need to start diagnosing 4 year olds with gender dysphoria and treating prebuscent children who are still developing their brains and bodies with HRT etc and treating them like guinea pigs. That is never going to happen.

NONE of this has to do with being treated with respect.

With all due respect I have to disagree and please hear me out. This is a 13+ forum correct? With that established we can reasonably assume that there are young teens reading these posts. And many of them may be undergoing their own gender identity and are confused and probably a little scared to come out to their parents and family. Many teens face fear of being kicked out, blackballed etc. These things contribute to the teen suicide rate in young people who are trans. So they may come here looking for a safe space and instead they find posts about how they don’t belong, they’re delusional, they’re living a lie, they’re abnormal, all kinds of bigoted stuff. How do you think that makes them feel? They’re already a little confused and maybe scared. They may already be dealing with hate in their communities. They shouldn’t have to see it here. Chat Avenue has the opportunity to lead by example. In Girls Chat we have a wonderful gorgeous woman mod @Simply Karina who is transgender just like me. @Amaisey has banned transphobia from the room. I implore you, not for my sake. I can take the crap, but on behalf of who reads these threads, the kids, to put a stop to the bigotry that has infiltrated the forums.

I really didnt want to get involved in this thread since its gone way off topic into some childish bickering parade, but Ill make a comment on the topic.

Being a transgender woman, I do agree the sports thing isnt a good idea. I wont speak on any other sports than one I am semi involved with. Im just at 6' and usually weigh around 160-165lbs. I go to the gym 4 days a week for extended periods of time and put in a lot of effort to stay in shape. UFC (or any MMA for that matter) is what I know most about. Ive experimented with a couple and as follows are my thoughts on the matter.

MMA fighters have a fight weight and a walk around weight. If I were to compete in womens MMA, Id have drop down to 135 in order to compete. I know my strength and my abilities, in no way shape or form would be fair for me to compete against a cis woman. Im confident in who I am and dont need validation from anyone (Lets people think what they want, they have to live with it), but some lnes do need to drawn.

That is my opinion. Take it or leave it, I hope everyone has a safe and blessed day 🔥

Gender is a complicated topic. Most dictionary's list biological sex as one of the means for classification of gender. That's what I meant. It's simply a summary relating to what the OP was arguing and i'm not going to become part of the debate.

It looks to me as though you are backpedaling. The debate of this thread is wether or not cis and trans women can compete on par in sports. It is not whether a trans person's gender is a debatable topic. And if you honestly believe that's what the topic of this thread is and are claiming that is what OP's post was about, then you should have shut it down for transphobia. So which is it? Are you making transphobic comments by saying a trans person's gender is debatable? Or are you allowing a transphobic thread to continue where you believe a debate is taking place surrounding a trans person's gender?

I will say this though, acknowledging someone by their preferred name and pronouns comes with a basic level of respect and decency. If you introduced yourself as Steve (he/him) and I decided to call you Kyle (she/her), that would be disrespectful, no? You're going out of your way to be rude and it's not necessary. I know there are some ugly words being exchanged on both sides of this interaction and I'm not asking you to agree with her side of the debate, but basic levels of respect and decency go a long way in having a constructive dialogue.

I agree but it’s hard to have a dialogue with people who are intolerant and unaccpting of others. They think that being called what they in some cases openly admit to being is hateful. It’s impossible to have a dialogue with people who have a preconceived opinion based on their own fears. I’m not change anyone’s mind. And you’re right, what it comes down to is just a basic level of respect. I’ll respect everyone unless they give me a reason not too. The original poster has made transphobic remarks to me in another since deleted thread, so I know the original post wasn’t trying to have a healthy debate. It’s just to gaslight.

You should call her by her preferred pronouns for the same reason I should refer to you by yours. If I called you "he" and you identified as "she," how would that feel when I spoke to you? At minimum it would likely feel weird or wrong if its not a term you identify with. At the other end of the spectrum, it might feel insulting or derogatory if you thought someone was doing it to harass or offend you. So even when speaking to someone you disagree with, it's best for both sides of this argument to treat each other with at least basic decency if you have any intention beyond being intentionally disrespectful.

Hi, just a thought. Instead of having people removed maybe you could reboot the thread and start over. Clean slate. Try and have a real debate and if people attack others, use hate speech or slurs, or otherwise violate the debate rules, then ask the staff to take action.

This is a very divisive topic that both sides feel very strongly about. Unless you start over, I just see all the negativity going back and forth ad nauseam.
