Just my two cents, I don’t think anyone under the age of 17 should be a mod in any room. In some cases it can be a maturity thing, and in other cases it is for their benefit. Girls Chat where I chat is a 13+ room. Even so we obviously get our share of creeps and peds which staff does a great job of taking care of. I think 14,15, 16 year old kids should be just that. Kids. Chat with friends, hang out etc. Let the adults take care of the adult stuff and let kids be kids.

I go back and forth. There are some days when I definitely agree with this sentiment. Young teenagers often don’t have the life experience or people management skills that are needed to moderate a room. Not to mention some of the horrible things mods have to see. Also, moderators need to be able to take a certain amount of “abuse” and have thick skin. Some teens react very emotionally to situations like that.

Other days I see young adults who, as I said above, display more maturity than some adults here. I think it’s VERY important for the admin who brings on a teen mod to carefully assess their maturity level and coping skills. And also make sure that those young mods get the support they need. So that they have a place to discuss their feelings and make sure they don’t feel alone.

No need to be so patronising.

I read it more as concern not patronizing.

I couldn’t have said it my better. It gets me thinking to those agencies that assist law enforcement to snare online predators. They use adult decoys who can pass as younger so as to not expose kids to that world. Kids know it’s out there for sure, but no need to have to deal with it on a first hand basis.

Kids have enough to worry about. School, peer pressure, social media pressure etc. The last thing they should have to worry about is dealing with the adult world before they’re even adults. As adults, (27 here) it’s our job to keep kids safe, whether online or off. They depend on us for that. That’s why I don’t think kids should be reading reports about explicit stuff here. Like I said, just my two cents tho. 🙂

Let Chat Avenue be the place where people of all ages can come to and chill and chat. Which it is. But when kids are concerned let it be a little escape. Meet people from all over the world and chat. One reason I encourage friends to set their pms to friends only so creeps can’t bombard them with nastiness.

For the most part they’d see it in the room anyway. It’s not like these disgusting people are conscious of minors when posting it.
That is a fair argument that can’t be disputed. However my rebuttal is why help to expose kids to things they shouldn’t have to see. I just fail to see the logic when I hear that the number one issue is to protect kids here, yet we’re gonna promote kids to moderate adult content. Whether it’s a 13+ room or not they’re going to have to deal with adult content if they’re in a position of moderating said content. We all know that teenagers know that that stuff is out there. I do t see the need to willfully expose them to it is all.

Tldr

None of those excuse or makes it okay that you’re now going to be subjected to more of whatever it is you’re trying to justify with the above comment.

Let’s stop normalizing something that shouldn’t be okay here. You have no business moderating a room with adult content in it. Anyone who states otherwise needs to check their priorities.

Regardless of the set age of the room, you are not fit for the role. I’m sorry.

The “adults” need to be adults here and take the Toy away from the child.

Ok, I will die on this hill if I have too. And if it means falling on my sword so be it. But there is no way a 15 year old child should be moderating adult content. Ask yourselves this....would you want your 15 year old daughter exposed to all the pedophilia coming their way? If your answer is anything other then no than you shouldn’t have kids. Now if that upsets anyone I am truly sorry but I will not back down from the fact that we should be protecting kids from the adult content here and not putting them on the front line of it. As adults, it is our responsibility to care and watch over the kids here. @Chatmaster we shouldn’t be putting kids in charge of moderating adult content.

Welp, like I already said. If y’all would be ok with your 15 year old daughter being exposed to the adult world of pornography and pedophilia that goes around around here especially in the more adult rooms such as General Chat then that would be on your conscious. But I’d be damned if it’d be on mine. I know I’ll sleep good at night knowing I would not allow my 15 year old daughter to be on the front line in an adult war on creeps and pedophiles. Period! ✋
Of course no sane person would let their kid on here. But kids are going to come on here regardless, and they're going to be exposed to adult content. So, as I argued above - why shouldn't they be able to choose to help fight it?

About the adult content, unfortunately that's going to be seen regardless of whether one's staff or not. So how does having the ability to remove it somehow make it worse?
The level of exposure is what differs. A chatter only sees the content posted in main during the time that they are logged in. A moderator reviews reports from main and from PMs over a much longer duration of time. This results in more content exposure (and often worse content exposure) because it includes PMs that wouldn't otherwise be available to be viewed as a non-staff chatter.

Yeah, and it's even worse in Kids Chat even as non staff. On this site, it can't be avoided.

It's a sad reality, but I have absolutely no doubt that the content a mod is exposed to in Kids Chat is worse than the content they would be exposed to in General Chat. That wasn't the question though. You asked a question about why being a mod would result in more content exposure than being a chatter, and I answered it.

Yes, and I also addressed that in my first post.

While I get you’re coming from a good place, everything you’re saying is coming across as very patronising and condescending towards Pinky. You’re saying its worse for her to mod the room where she can REMOVE adult content, and instead should focus on being a user where, if she happens to be online when a mod isn’t, she’ll be more exposed to this same content?

Also I’d be curious to know what your suggestion for Kids Chat would be. Do we install adult mods there? How to we vet them to ensure they’re safe to mod a Kids room?

At the end of the day, Pinky is able to make her own decisions on whether she wants to mod. I’m sure Samwise didn’t decide to mod her on a whim. I’ll end again by saying that I totally get where you’re coming from, but you haven’t said how modding exposes her more to this content than if she’s just a user.
Ok allow me to answer your second question first. Yes, install adults to monitor kids chat. Do we allow kids to run daycare centers? No. As adults it is our responsibility to look out for and keep kids safe. Online and off. There’s a reason law enforcement uses decoys posing as minors to catch online predators. It’s to not expose minors to things they don’t need to see. This has nothing g to with Pinky as a person. I am quite sure she is an exceptional person. But there’s a reason we have rules and laws to protect kids her age. She’s not old enough to consent. It’s up to the adults aka us to keep them safe. Now if you guys can’t grasp that then that’s on you all. I’m not patronizing as you keep saying. I just care about keeping kids safe is all

Ya kinda contradicted yourself there. The answer to your query can be summed up in one word. Parenting.

While I cant really say anything, since I started modding while being under 18, and 3 of the current mods in bc are under 18, and bc, while bad, aint as bad as others... I do find it to be a strange decision to let people under 18 do it

It's got nothing to do with how well you can handle a certain complaint, or the fact you can "handle" the more revealing and downright gross things on chat... but its just kinda fucked up 😅. Actively letting people under 18 see this ****, and then having to deal with it

And ik this stuff is unfortunately unavoidable in most places... but Actively having kids deal with it, kinda messed up

And this isn't to berate or patronise anyone, hell I don't even know half of you XD. I find it kinda... well weird that you can handle it so well, I definitely can't lol.

TL;DR: kinda fucked up people under 18 are (while voluntary) exposed to this **** then made to deal with it. But hey, whatever fucks your fish ig. You do you if you do it well

This is an issue I've personally wrestled with for a long time, and there is no good solution given the current circumstances. The adults that operate daycare centers are extensively vetted and trained. If there were adult staff members in the youth rooms, then they would need to be background checked at a minimum to be in that position. This is a site that operates with volunteer staff members, and it's just not realistic to perform the type of vetting required to safely put an adult in charge of overseeing children.

That being said, having children moderate the youth rooms is also not a great solution. As I think just about everyone has expressed, no parent in their right mind would allow their kids on this site – and that includes the ******** who were here as minors and have since grown up. The youth that are staff have a lot of exposure, and it's morally taxing knowing that information like pedophile codewords are taking up real estate in their minds, instead of them just being kids.

Until this site is either 18+ or has paid staff members, there is no good solution. And seeing as though neither of those things will ever actually happen, then the best bad plan is the best we've got.

someone else has probably said some version of this but here's something to consider: not only is there a moral issue of having to report posts that contain anything illegal to a child, there is also the legal issues that stem from it. when someone reports something, that report and what was contained in it is sent to any mods on at the time. if the only mod on is someone under 18 when someone is posting illegal imagry/words, etc and you make a report, you are now technically the one sharing that illegal material with a minor. you'd have to wait to report it to another mod, ss it and report it later on forums or to another mod, or risk legal trouble and report it yourself. in two of the three options here involve getting another mod (which is redundant for obvious reasons) and the third option getting yourself in possible legal trouble.and for everyone thats thinking thats semantics, the law doesnt care if you were doing something with good intentions, when this situation eventually happens- all the law will see is an adult that shared something illegal in a chat room to a minor.

not to mention the number of people who see something vulgar and want to report it but just wont if the only mod is a minor because they're uncomfortable sharing whatever it is with a child. a lot of you would say you would now to back up your arguments that this is okay but 100% I'd bet irl none of you would actually try and defend sharing those types of images with a minor under any circumstance. especially on a chat room lol

"these logs clearly show that you shared a picture of someone's junk with a minor"

"but they're a moderator on a chat room, I wasn't being a creep i was just trying to keep the chat room safe"

"and to keep this chat room safe you had to send a d1ck pic that someone else had sent to you to a minor?"

"well yeah, so that other people dont have to see it"

"but you made sure the minor seen it by sending it to them"

"its the only way man this place is like totally understaffed. would it help if i told you that this kid is mature for their age?"

btw has anyone noticed one of the main arguments for why this is okay "oh its okay they are very mature for their age" is a TEXTBOOK example of classical grooming phrases you can find in literal textbooks talking about grooming? and its come up not once or twice accidentally, but is an actual main talking point of the entire argument that has come up numerous times?

yeah thatll hold up in court LOL

It is up to the admins and cm, personally, I wouldn't want children being a moderator in any chat room on here for the simple fact that you have sick individuals posting D pic as profile pics on occasion, so, if there is some expectation that a moderator is to go through the list of who is in a chat room and make sure no one has a D pic as a profile pic, seems like if some parent really wanted they could bitch and scream how one is subjecting their child to something or other **** of i know.

Just doesn't really make sense to me about putting a child in a position to moderate a chat room that is predominately full of adults.

Moderators take a lot of **** to begin with, then to put that stress on a child, when children are already dealing with a lot of drama online that society sees constantly in the news, with bullying, etc. If a child moderator is being bullied as a moderator ( not just pinky I mean any child ) and that child gets harrassed to the point that something terrible happens who is liable?

I honestly don't give two shits, I got bigger things to worry about, like when @Amandalorian is going to decide to be nice to me and stop antagonizing me. I AM SENSITIVE DAMN IT.

Again I am confused, as having a function where we send pornography to underaged users is against the law.

Perhaps this website is above the law, who knows.

You're acting as if kids don't already know more than most adults by 12 to 13 now anyway. Most of them are watching messed up stuff by 12 to 13. It's the internet. It's never going to be safe for kids and teens. Yet there's more and more using it from a young age. I understand your point, somewhat agree. But She isn't from America; she isn't weak-minded like the little spoiled American kids who get brought up weak and can't even handle words. Being so weak, even basic words such as "fat" or something offend them. You're the same person who would blame all Russians because Putin invaded Ukraine. You can't blame the people in the country; blame the government. Same thing here. Blame the site for allowing pedos, blame the internet for allowing pedos. You do realize most kids are more technically advanced and smarter than most adults now, anyway. stop being such a weirdo a child is not 15, you're treating her as if she is 5 years old. she is very capable to mod a chatroom that's for 13+. if she had a problem with it, she would have said it. You are thinking as if it was you at 15, yes maybe you at 15 should not be modding a chatroom. But I'm sure she is quite capable of modding a chatroom.
Ok, I never heard a more rambling, incoherent speech with no meaning in my life. To paraphrase, at no point did you even come close to a coherent thought. We are all now dumber for having listened to you. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul...😒

15 is a teen not a child...
A 15 year old kid is still a child when compared to the adult world

Looks like we have another post that ended no where, and in ****. We have staff making light of the matter, including the underaged admin. The issue at hand won’t be addressed, and kids, or teens will continue to be apart of a website that allows them to receive pornography.

You can close this thread @Samwise.

Interesting point. I’ll just point out a few things that came to my mind. Under your construct, even if an adult is reporting cp to another adult, that would “technically” be sharing cp. Or what if someone finds a **** online and reports the cp to law enforcement. Under your construct they are also “technically” sharing cp between two parties. See where I’m going here?
Finally, and more specific to the issue here, ******** can report a **** without posting the content of what the **** posted. Then they wouldn’t “technically” be sharing cp.

You can close this thread @Samwise.

This is a great example of the “lose lose” situation forum staff are sometimes put it. If they close this thread, someone will complain they are suppressing the conversation. If they leave it open someone will complain it’s going nowhere and should have been closed. Tough spot.

...a thought just occurred to me

We must protect the children from seeing such horrible things and dealing with horrible people, that Is our "job", to keep these kids safe... so we'll get a kid to deal with horrible people and see horrible things. Kinda self contradictory lol

(Also, theres an alarming amount of peoples arguments being "oh she's mature enough"... maybe she is, but thats besides the point 😂)

It’s going no where because they don’t want to change anything.

And no, the report feature sends the image to the staff. There is no grey area here, it’s pretty black and white.

Yes, I’m aware of how the report feature works. ******** can still report a **** by alerting the moderator via pm without sending the cp content.

That isn’t how the report feature works though, but a work around.

The rules don’t state, do no use the report feature if the staff is a minor. The website encourages sending CP or pornography to the staff VIA the report feature.

Yes, I’m aware of how the report feature works. ******** can still report a **** by alerting the moderator via pm without sending the cp content.
But is everyone going to do that or even be aware of the moderators age in question? No.

This perfect world you’re forming doesn’t exist.

Actually, people do pm me routinely to report violations. But yes, you’re correct, ******** usually aren’t aware of moderators age.

Seems people are now hung up on the word "child". Which... yeah you can say their not exactly a child, but their still underage.

And about seeing just as much, if not more, in kids chat, why does that make a difference. Gen chat is for basically anyone 13+ (which... Terrible idea), its going to be more susceptible to adult conversation, where as kids chat is specifically for those under 18. Now obviously I'm not that naive, I know kids chat has alot of perverts... I mean it's called kids chat, it's like the best place to go for it (and tbh, altho it would definitely be "weird", I feel JUST mods of kids chat should be adults... altho I see that causing quite a stir)

Summary:
- Don't get hung up on the word "kid" or "child"
- while yes they still probably saw things in kids chat... that still dosent really change anything, just now that it's specifically a room with more adults, it's come to attention that maybe dont let kids see that

What confuses me, is if I report CP knowingly to a minor, is that not against the law?

This website encourages users to send CP to minors.
thats my point. having an underage mod forces people to share illegal images with a minor if they happen to be the only mod on. unless they dont report it and wait for another mod or ss and come to forums to get someone over there. both options that would make having that mod redundant.

all it takes is one, underaged angry mod to have a bad day and go to the police and say "look what these adults have been sharing with me" and boom, anybody thats ever reported something illegal to them is now legally a predator looking at prison time because by reporting they were technically sharing it with that minor. even if the case gets dropped when it comes out that they were only using the report feature, before that happens their life would be ruined lol.

I'm not saying Pinky would do that, but by having underage mods you're forcing users into a position where its questionably legal to even report the worst things they might come across.

all this does is put the users who care about the integrity of chat the most at risk.

aside from the legal side this is just honestly messed up. its honestly super weird that so many full grown adults are fighting this hard to rationalize putting a literal child into a position where other adults can report illegal imagry to them if they see it. imagine this position anywhere else doing anything else. just think about it:

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR *fill in literally any other positon of any kind*: on top of regular job duties, due to the high traffic of p3dos coming through this location, applicant will be responsible for dealing 100's of p3dos and pervs everyday (child volunteers acceptable)

in what f#cking world would any of you back this up irl? yall spend too much time here fr lmao

Just as a note to anyone, specifically for younger mods, but also the old farts too. If your room unfortunately does get alot of negativity and/or illegal things... funnily enough that can be damaging to metal health, even of you don't think it is

So take breaks, it's fine to want to get away from that kinda stuff for a while

(Ik this is kinda funny since the whole reason she is a gen mod now was for inactivity 😅, but your health is more important than silly chat room number 42)

Now back to weird hot takes

let me Jeff Foxworthy this:

if yall have been spending so much time on chat ave that you honestly think you'd see this ad irl:

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS IN AN ONLINE CHAT ROOM: on top of regular job duties, due to the high amount of traffic from p3dos and pervs, applicants will be responsible for dealing with 100's of different p3dos and pervs on a daily basis.

and you think to yourself, "you know as long as they're mature, i think this would be a perfect position for a child, and i will die on this hill and actually be really vocal about it"

you might be spending too much time in chat rooms.

Jeff Foxworthy Lol GIF by NBC

like the fact yall be dying on this of all hills is weird lol. like i get where some people are coming from, but after seeing everyone else's points they shoulda been like "you know what u right my bad" like how tf are there actually so many grown adults legit dying on this hill

Some people are very mature at 15 years old she will be good.
There’s no such thing as a very mature 15 year old kid. Cuz they’re just that, a kid. And kids should not be in a position to moderate adult content no matter the room or circumstance. Just ask yourself this and this goes for everyone saying how it’s perfectly ok for a child to be exposed to CP pervs etc etc. Would you want your 15 year old daughter exposed to it? Now that I think about it I’m surprised no one has brought up the unasked question till now. Do her parents know she’s modding adult content? That’s something to think about, because if not then that means adult staff here is putting minors in positions to be exposed to adult content. Perhaps even a legal liability if parents found out and hadn’t given their consent.

right? like unless this childs parents literally post a video of themselves giving permission for their child to be a moderator here and by extent ackowledging the risks of their child being a moderator here, even chatmaster is running risks by even allowing it lol.

maybe not this case in particular, like i said I dont know Pinky at all, but chatmaster is running a risky game allowing child mods and just assuming they aren't lying when they say their parents are cool with it. imagine the parent going through their kids phone and chat is open and they check the reports and see report after report of p0rn/cp/animal stuff/d1ck pics, etc. they wont know nor care that what they are looking at are reports from innocent users. they'll see what they assume are a bunch grown men sending everything except the kitchen sink to their kid, and they'll come after anyone they think is responsible. including chatmaster, admins, but most importantly, the innocent user who thought they were helping chat by sending a report.

theres so many variables lol.
kid mod had a really bad day/vendetta against a chatter, etc= potential lawsuits for multiple people.
parents of kid mod find their phone and react before getting all the informaton= potential lawsuits for multiple people

@Frombo
You never addressed my examples of an adult reporting cp to another adult. Or an adult reporting cp to LE. Do you consider that illegal/liability?

@Frombo

thats not the topic of this discusson. but if you want to get into the nitty-gritty, law enforcement is much more likely to look into what actually happened when its two adults in a chat room before they start exerting manpower into it.

in my example of a disgruntled child mod going to the police because they got fired/want revenge on a troll, etc- unless that child mod has second thoughts and explains what actually happened, law enforcement is going to start looking into it and possibly open a case/investigaton until things are clear.

in my example of a parent opening their childs phone and finding reports that contain illegal imagry, the parent also wont explain to law enforcement what actually happened because they wont know or they wouldnt care. law enforcement opens an investigaton.

adults on a chat room would be different. my point is that much less questions will be asked before law enforcement opens an investigation if its a child or a childs parent coming to them about an online chat room. an adult going into a police station is much more likely to be heard out, and then promptly thrown out when they realize what a mod is and that the reports are from people trying to stop the bad guys. and then they'd tell them to contact the cyber-police about the actual perpretrators.

not so much if its a child going in there or a concerned parent.not only would they likely just start an investigation right away but there's also a very good chance law enforcement would take the stance that I've been trying to prove here: and that even if they took the time to understand what was happening and learned the ins and outs of chat ave and its mods, theres a good chance that law enforcement wouldn't care and STILL count people sending reports to a minor while knowing full well that mod is a minor as breaking the law just as much as the person who orginally sent it.

either way, two adults isnt the situation we're talking about in any case. you're comparing apples to oranges. classic derail move

the point is, regardless of your ethical questions: is that when you have a child mod there is a small but real chance that they can use the reports they've received from users against them. and the point also is that aside from that, theres a good chance its not even actually legal to report p0rn of any kind to a minor knowing those images are being shared with them.

Lol, this is fucking insane. Does anyone see that? We have a 15 year old defending their staff abilities to be sent CP via the report feature, and a 65 year old admin who is encouraging it. All backed by a website.

This is insane, you guys see that right?
Did you make a thread about this at one point? Where did that lead?

But that all also applies to Kids Chat and Teen Chat mods. Should they be replaced with adults too? That seems like an even bigger liability.

All these arguments are against minors being staff at all. But that's not what this thread is about.

All these arguments are against minors being staff at all. But that's not what this thread is about.
That was the premise of the op point. The wisdom of minors moderating adult content

As soon as I typed that out the absurdity of it is just profound. I mean think about. Adults are defending minors being exposed to the worst crap this place has to offer. Pedos, pervs, porn, cp you name it. I’m actually watching in real time adults defending the indefensible 🤦‍♀️

However, for KC and TC, the only good alternative is putting background checked adults in charge of the rooms, and we know that won't happen. So is it better to leave the rooms unmoderated and let more children be exposed to inappropriate content, groomed, and abused?

Of course not. Install adult mods just as you would any other room. With set requirements. Say a minimum amount of time being a user, references from other members of staff, mods and admins. Things like that. It’s for adults to keep this place as safe as possible. It’ll never be perfect of course. But there’s a reason we don’t let kids run schools or daycares isn’t there? Because no matter how mature either they or a grown up(hint hint people here)think they are, they simply lack the life and social experience to be in charge of adult things. When I was 15 I thought I was ready to take on the world. Obviously I wasn’t. No 15 year old kid is no matter how mature they think they are. Hell im 27 and still get tired of adulting sometimes.

kids and teens shouldn't use the internet at all. but it's made to be a part of their lives at a young age, the number of creeps, pervs, pedos, absolute weirdos even as adults we should stay away from is terrible. it's not going to change the internet no matter where you go is full o of garbage bs. you should stop worrying about something that won't change.

🤦‍♀️ So to use your logic there will always be kids in this world that lose the parent jackpot and end up getting abused by the ones who should protect them. That’s always gonna be a thing. So we should all just not worry about it? 😒

That's part of life, unfortunately. You just have to get on with it. I agree, it's terrible. You yourself, nor me myself, will ever change the fact that the world we live in is sht. we just have to enjoy ourselves while we're here otherwise we spend our lives trying to change something that won't change. we use up most of our life fighting for a change that won't happen.

I hope I’m never as apathetic as you are. Good thing the majority of people aren’t.

Ill add a little something to this as its a wonderful point. Being a moderator of a room where its 13+, and modding it over 3 years so this isnt something Ive experienced just once, Ive been told many times by the younger ******** that they very much appreciate having a couple mods closer to their age range as they are just more comfortable. Having all adults mods (or of course no mods) for these rooms would be a bad idea in my opinion.

As for the rest (And this isnt directed at you @Radiation ), and @TheDifference already pointed this out brilliantly, CP is CP and sending it is sending it no matter who is on the other end. Although C/A does not "send CP" as if it condones the material. Its reported to local authorities by staff. Its a crappy thing to deal with, I think every single person here would agree on that point regardless of what side you take. The basis seems to be do away with under 18 mods, which again I disagree with.

I don’t agree with kids being on a site full stop with groomers and pervs so I don’t approve that HR has modded a teen when this site is full of pervs pics and all sorts a teen shouldn’t see I’m modified at what I’m reading the whole point in ranks is older staff really to protect the younger youths !!! I really have no comment…

This Child is not even legal to see a coc* I don’t Fking CARE how much experience as a mod she’s had she’s underage !!!!! I don’t care if the rooms 13+ she’s UNDER AGE she’s not legal to have sexxx she’s a minor!!! Why’s he set her …

You lot might not CARE well I fuckkking DO!!!!

No, it is not 'TECHNICALLY', it is actually a legal definition 'Using a carriage service to distribute CSAM' and it is illegal to copy/reproduce CSAM and send it even if being used as evidence. An offender CAN be charged and put on a sex offender register.

Also, if you are under 18 and take a nude selfie and send it, you can also be be found guilty of 'using a carriage service to distribute CSAM' and regardless of them being under 18, can also end up on the sex offender register.

Come back in loads of years time and tell me if you’d WANT ur child or any child looking and cok and pussay and god knows what else and tell us we don’t care about a child well-being you’ll understand WHEN you become
I mean it’s definitely nothing personal by any stretch of the imagination. I just care about the safety of and well being of kids is all. That’s the biggest takeaway I hope Pinky gets from all of this. There’s been some petty back and forth on this thread but the bottom line is the online safety of kids on CA.

I agree we should over protect our kids until they reach 18, that way they will be ready to be bullied, not be able to stand up for themselves. thankfully my kids won't be anything like you when they grow up. my daughter can already look after herself at 14, my son works with me from time to time, he's only 12. that's the difference between a kid who will grow up to be productive. or somebody who will grow up to be scared and worried about everything like you Darth Erica.

Listen up you low life troll. I’m only gonna tell you this one time and I’m done with you. If you’re ok with your 14 year old daughter being exposed to child p0rn, porn, pervs, d!Ck pics etc etc, then you’re a failure as a father. And tbh, if you think that by exposing her to that kinda crap toughens her up than she should probably be taken from you and put into protective custody. Sounds to me like you’re incapable of keeping kids safe. And for the record, keeping kids safe doesn’t mean they grow up scared and worried. Only a small minded little man would think that way. And in fact you’re most likely the one scared of your own shadow which is why you wanna toughen up your kids. Now, with that said, there’s a bridge somewhere. Go crawl back under it.

Oh and by the way, seedork, you’re on ignore so don’t bother

Darth Erica, why are you so mad? Maybe you should go back to school to learn how to read.
Pinky is not your daughter, nor is she mine. If she herself is fine with what she does, why do you feel you have the right to keep making her feel useless, not up to the task? Anyway, you're not going to accept anything I say, so just continue to be an idiot. Take care.

I think you completely missed the point that one side of this issue is trying to make. It’s not about jealousy or them as a person or if they are capable of doing the job of a moderator.
Some people here are concerned about a minor being placed in a position where they will have to be exposed to graphic sexual images such as cp.
Precisely. I honestly don’t understand some of the hostility some are spreading towards those of us who only care about the safety and well being of minors here.

I am just confused how anyone could argue in favor of a minor moding chat avenue. Other than the fact that we all know about the depravity that goes on here, users have been on the news. A p ring was busted here several years ago. The original cams was busted using minors.

It is all public information.

I think this whole discussion has gone far too far.

There are some who will argue with all their might that someone who has proven her worth (as a mod) should never be mod, and there are others (including me) who believe in the good of people and maturity in them.

As @Pinky has said herself, age is a very arbitrary number. At 23.59.59 in your 18th year on this planet (and yes, I know the puritans amongst you will now argue that I got the numbers wrong, but really, when you are born you are zero, and you enter your first year on this planet) you are an innocent naive kid, and one second later you are a mature adult.

But to inform you Americans, there are other countries on this planet, The US of A is not the only country here. And in some countries 16 is legal age, and in others, Mexico for instance 12 is. Yes, Americans, Mexico has a legal age of 12. Shocking isn't it, that other countries have other laws.

As far as I am aware @Pinky isn't an American girl. in fact, as far as I am aware, she hails from a country so far away that most of you Americans are all asleep when she is doing her modding business. So please, enlighten me, why on earth are you singling her out?

I don't know her, I have never had any dealings with her, for the simple reasons I don't go to the rooms she is is (and nor should I go to, for the age thing). But I have a right to state my mind, as you lot think to do.

Perhaps the owners of this forum should just shut it all down, delete everyone and everything from here, and start again, and ONLY keep the mods, for they are doing one hell of an awesome job in trying to keep this place open for some of the most vile people I have seen in 28 years of chatting.

Yes I'm old. I know.
Aside from railing against Americans which is your usual MO, what exactly is your argument for minors moderating adult content. Btw, Chat Avenue uses the age of 18 as the standard, so if someone from Mexico as you say is 12, they wouldn’t be allowed to chat here at all.

This is the bit I'm not understanding lol. It seems alot of the points that say she's fine to mod it is that she's capable and mature enough... yes, we can all agree on that... dosent mean it's OK. Like!? 😂
Here’s the part I find incredibly hypocritical. On one hand people are saying the number one issue is the protection of minors here. Which it should be. Then on the other hand they’re saying it’s fine for minors to mod porn, cp, etc etc. If a minor reported someone sending them adult content such as that, the offender would be kicked and or banned for sending that to a minor. So why is it ok for a minor to be exposed to it because they’re modding? Makes no sense. I actually want someone to make it make sense. But that’s not gonna happen cuz it can’t be made sense of 🤦‍♀️

Yeah, it definitely dosent make any sense lol. As I think I said earlier on "protect minors from illegal material by having a minor deal with it" 😂

Not sure it’s really a double standard. I think some people can believe that minors should be protected on the internet and also believe that there are some benefits to having minors mod some rooms.
I can agree with the point that’s been made earlier about having some younger mods for younger ********(minors)to feel comfortable going to, rather than someone in their 30’s perhaps. But someone 18,19, early twenties is close enough in age to the 14, 15, 16 year old kids to talk to. That way, minors aren’t being exposed to things no sensible parent would want their kid seeing online, and they can have someone to go to with issues who can relate to their age group.

The debate: Should Chat Chat Avenue allow mods to be under 18 years of age in the 13+ Rooms (This debate isn't about any particular mod, and posts that do that will be removed. ) Please consider reading the arguments before voting.

edit: Posts directed at current UA staff will be deleted etc. This thread is was not created to continue the closed SCandF thread-

No. For many reasons which are too many to list here. For one, even the 13+ rooms have their share of pedos, pervs, creeps of all nature, and in some rooms such as General many users are above 18 and consist of adult conversations. There is no benefit to allowing a minor to be exposed to such content when staff is supposed to keep that content away from them. Putting minors on the front line to combat cp, d!ck pix, pervs etc is antithetical to what protecting minors is all about. There are a million reasons why agencies who work in tandom with law enforcement use decoys posing as minors to catch online predators. It’s to not expose kids to them. What parent in there right mind would willfully allow their child to moderate a chat room filled with adult content?

Also, how does anyone know that these minor mods have their parents consent? They’re not old enough to consent themselves, so you could be putting minors in positions to be exploited without parental consent. That could become a legal issue.

Now let’s touch on an issue brought up before. Argument being it’s good to have young mods so minors can reach out to them instead of the older mods. Mods who are 18, 19 and early twenties are young enough to relate to minors, without putting minors in situations they don’t belong. And make this make sense...a perv send porn to a minor, the minor reports it and the user gets kicked/banned. What’s the point of that report going to a minor who happens to be the mod? So it’s not ok for a minor to see it if they’re a regular chatter, but it’s perfectly ok for a minor to see it if they’re a mod? That cannot be made sense of.

I’m sure these kids think they’re very mature, just like I did when I was their age. But I wasnt and neither are they. And any adult who thinks they’re very mature has their head in the clouds. Underage kids should never be willfully put into a position where they will be on the front line of dealing with CP, pedos, pervs, creeps etc. It’s wrong, and shameful.

This is a tough one for me considering I modded girls chat back when I was under 18.
Kids and Teens chat were crazy modding under 18 honestly as well.

I feel like the mods under 18 I want to protect in some way so when I see some of the mods moderating a chat room it gets me in protect mode.

At the end of the day we all have morals and values. I can see where most people see the age being a problem. Most of the kids here know what they are getting into. Do I necessarily want them to be subjected to that stuff? Hell no. I don’t even like seeing a 17 year old admining Live chat just because Live chat used to be similar to Video chat back in the day and well I modded and admined Video chat.
I also don’t like seeing a 15 year old modding General Chat, but here we are.

This isn't really a problem for admins, all you guys can do is follow CMs rules.

If CM wants to allow children to moderate in any of the chatrooms that are obviously visited by people of all ages, along with criminals that like to prey on children, that becomes a problem for CM to have to worry about on a legal matter.

If I was a parent, I wouldn't allow my child to moderate on this garbage site. So the morality of it all doesn't boil down to the "maturity" of what a child thinks they have, that doesn't mean jack to anyone in any of the 50 states if they are underage, and it doesn't matter for a reason.

Moreover, I would be more curious as to why my child is conversing with adults on any website, let alone having some kind of friendship with an adult to the point that my child felt comfortable enough to give out any kind of information to an adult, in this case, to be a moderator. Maybe the debate shouldn't be whether chat ave allows underage children to be mods( because if one really needs to debate that, there is a bigger mental problem for asking the question in the first place), but, should adults, in general, be talking to children online for any reason on a chat site, that is not geared to be done so in a professional and monitored manner by a professional agency either by government, state, mental health agency, an associated teachers organization, or some kind of combination,,etc. (This is really a rhetorical question as well; if you need to debate why you don't have to stay in your lane, then the mental health **** you are dealing with, is something i want no part of.)

The problem boils down to parental guidance, parents need to be making the decisions in their underage children's lives and monitoring their child's internet activities; for me personally, right upto 17 years of age, by the time a child hits 17 one is entering into adulthood and life changes at least in regard to privacy and letting a teenager of 17+ have unfettered privacy.

Then the next question should be, what legal ramifications are there for an " Admin " or CM in allowing an underage child moderate in any of the chatrooms on this site. If there is none, then that is the end of the debate and everything else is just personal opinion.

if CM doesn't have verified information on admins, and that info isn't easily accessible to the public or parents, that need to know for whatever reason, why would I if I was a parent, just willy nilly trust an adult talking to my child to " become a moderator".

People want to be stupid, ignorant, whatever and engage with children online, pft. Good luck.

I really don't get how this is even a debate.

The implication here is we are allowing those who are underaged to see pornography, and are in fact encouraging it to be sent to them directly. This is not about how you feel. This is about what is legal. It breaks the law.

great post in fairness, it's an excellant argument on whether actually under 17/18s should mod the rooms. This site however does have a kids chat room, is it not in their best interest to maybe have an adult admin and a couple of kid mods to keep the room in synch and involved?

I do not agree with the owner allowing kids on his site full stop !!!!! This site has been around many years it’s perv city groomer city and troll city and a fair few decent people kids should NOT be set in rank especially under 18 they are NOT legal ! It’s not appropriate this site has lots of over age ******** /VIPs MOD somone above age !!!!!! Mod a adult !!! Its seriously a no brainer

It is probably in their best interest to have a verified adult mod. Instead, you have kids watching kids, who are not verified and might be adults.

Otherwise you have Ps going to kidss chat and sending illegal content, and then having kids handle the illegal content, and speak to CM about said illegal content to get VIP users in trouble.

I’d have to say no to kids moderating kids chat. Tho I don’t think having 40 somethings moderating it either is a good idea. An admin say in his/her twenties, with mods 18-early twenty something. Still young enough to relate to the kids there. Yet when I say kids it’s still 13-18 I think, maybe 17 I’m not sure, which is the ages we get in Girls Chat.

Over 17's for me
That’s good to know 🙂. With no mods around the room can get creepy with the peds and pervs, stuff that minors have no business dealing with at a staff level. Users can ignore adult content, staff really can’t, so any underage mod is thereby forced to view it, where that’s something I know you and the rest of the staff actively tries to keep away from minors.

different countries…
different laws, for different ages…

a 12 year old can be exposed to sex in mexico, & it be totally legal, meanwhile in america thats a sex crime…

this is a subjective debate, neither side will be more right than the other…

w.e, if they arent modding a room that is specifically 18+ then who cares, honestly…

has anyone just tried not fuckin’ worrying about it??? i swear u guys worry way too much about sh*t…

im flying to california & dont care about anythings ~

For one thing 12 year olds aren’t allowed to chat here at all. All rooms are 13+ at the minimum. Secondly, most of us do actually care if minors are being subjected to CP, porn, pedos, pervs etc. 14,15,16 year old kids don’t need to be exposed to that crap here. It’s supposed to be the duty of staff to keep it away from kids, not put them on the front line of it. Also, Chat Avenue uses 18 as the standard for regulating minors.

What confuses me, is if I report CP knowingly to a minor, is that not against the law?

This website encourages users to send CP to minors.
I totally agree 💯.

Ok put it this way kids will be kids yes but there’s a thin line !! Modding is not for a underage child I was 25 when I became a mod/admin I’m now 32 !!!!! I’m well at the top now but we are talking underage children I just can’t approve there’s no other way it’s a no brainer just no chose an older chatter
Amen to that.

wat about the kids room, should under 18s with some sorta common sense and maturity be able to mod that? In all fairness lets not right off all under 18s .

No I think he should close the under age rooms I don’t see it in any other way it’s screaming pervs come in groomers all sorts I don’t agree with any of it

I think if he’s going to have the rooms open they should chat in main only no pms and it should be an trusted adult admin watching them maybe himself no don’t even set them in rank whatsoever call me mean strictt be my guest I strongly believe in what I say

So now it’s 17? Let’s be fair here and decide on an age. 17 or 18?

A lot of countries around the world and states of USA it’s 16 to legally ‘do the deed.’ The 18+ is a federal US law that applies to ‘adult content’ in the USA, and generally sites hosted in the States (admittedly, this is also pushed onto other countries around the world because, well … ‘Mericaaa!)

If we’re going to start talking about legality vs morality, let’s compare apples with apples and oranges to oranges. Stop cherry picking between the two.

From a legal standpoint, this site seems to pick and chose laws from international standards and US standards, so it’s a bit of a grey area anyways.

From a moral perspective, I’m about 7 months off being the age of consent in my country. Once I’m 16, I can legally have sex, but because of America, I can’t legally go to a room and discuss it? Because it’s only immoral in their eyes, not my country of origin.

So, can some of you hardass naysayers tell me, are we talking legally? Morally? Is it 17? 18? Why was it decided to be ok for some rooms to be 17 but not be a problem? Can someone please explain all these conundrums to me?

we close off everything coz of perverts, yea lets make them win...sure
Why a closed room suggestion I’m not being tight strict or mean I’m doing what I do best protecting kids from online harm groomers child peds !!!! That’s why I was the best mod best admin best superadmin and now I own a site !!!!! 👸🏻

we close off everything coz of perverts, yea lets make them win...sure
No one is closing off anything. The simple fact is minors aren’t old enough to be subjected to moderating adult content. That’s not a punishment. That’s keeping kids safe. We don’t kids in to see rated r movies, yet allowing them to deal with x rated material here is somehow ok? I know you didn’t say that but many people are and that’s not ok.
