Before you asshats begin, id like to note I am fully aware of the clickbait title and noting that murdering a child in the womb does in fact prevent a birth.

This thread is about abortion being used as an alternative to contraceptives.
^ DO YOU ASSHATS SEE THAT IN BOLD ^

Let us continue.

Abortion Is Not Birth Control, it is murder

Abortion is a complex medical procedure with potential physical and emotional consequences. People who say it's not murder will highlight cases where abortions are performed due to medical complications or instances where continuing with the pregnancy would endanger the mother's life.

These cases should be treated as exceptions rather than justifications for widespread access to abortion.

There are numerous effective methods of contraception readily available. From abstinence, to condoms, to birth control pills, and many various options that can prevent unwanted pregnancies without resorting to abortion. These methods allow individuals to take control over their reproductive choices.

Relying on abortion as a primary form of birth control perpetuates a culture where sexual irresponsibility becomes normalized. It sends the message that consequences can be easily erased through termination rather than encouraging individuals to engage in responsible sexual behavior.

Abortion should not be considered as an alternative or substitute to contraceptive birth control methods. The physical and emotional toll it takes on women, along with its disregard for the sanctity of life and promotion of irresponsible behavior, makes it an unacceptable solution.

Change my mind.

People should have the free will to choose what happens to there body.
They could of been asulted or contraception broke are they then forced to carry a child?
I believe each person has a story and sometimes this might be there only option.
Just for the sake of it because you choose to have unprotected sex? maybe not so much an option.
I don't know exactly what's best to say here but I know each person's reasons are different and therefore should be considered.

True, abortion is not birth control.
Abortion is only in medical cases where the malformation on the fetus appears and it is evident and confirmed by the consilium of medical professionals.
Nothing else to add here.

I agree abortion shouldn't be used. If you want to have intercourse (sry not sure if the other word is allowed or not) do it safely with protection. In one case you can't control if it's safe intercourse or not. If you're r****d you have no option. If you're rlly young and aren't responsible you have no choice. I recently found out that the covid vaccines have aborted babies in them. Which is even more wrong. If you need to know how i know feel free to pvt message me.

The covid vaccine thing sounds like pro life propaganda. In any case it's BS.

It's the woman's right to choose. She has to carry the pregnancy and if she's not ready or contraception has failed then a termination is her decision and nobody else's. Nobody has a right to force their views, whatever they may be and whatever the reason for them, on another.

just wonder how many pro-lifers have adopted unwanted babies?

This thread/ post could be a trigger for some folks just letting you know. This was not necessary. Especially if someone got. _ _ _ _. Like I did before. So much pain and bloody I had to go through in my lifetime. I do not even want to see this. SMH! Enough said! Very bad thead. This one hurts the most for me.

I don't actually personally know of any cases of people who do treat birth control as abortion. Do you have any statistics or anything? Every female friend who has confided in me about their abortion has made that choice because they felt they had no other option, and it was usually due to a combination of abuse, violence, coercion or birth control failure.

I can’t speak for all women but here is something I found on an abortion statistics site:
IMG-2704.jpg

I am honestly not sure why people think women would just have abortions for no reason or use it as a form of “birth control.”
Having an abortion causes strain on a body and the brain. It hurts more than people realize. Your body just doesn’t recover fast. Your brain doesn’t go back to normal for months.
As someone who has had one at 22 weeks due to several chromosomal abnormalities with the baby, I know a lot on the subject and I’ve had 2 miscarriages where I’ve had to use some of the pills they use on medicinal abortions. 🤦‍♀️ it isn’t pleasant.
Abortion is healthcare whether people like it or not. I can’t speak for the women who would think that abortion is birth control because I don’t know anyone personally, but yeah.
People need to do more research on the statistics of abortion- especially the people who think abortion is murder. I respect everyone’s opinions and I’m not the arguing type. 👍🏻

Thank you for sharing this information! And thank you also for sharing your personal story. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I think it's very easy for some people to judge when they've never had to experience something themselves. I can't agree more with what you've said on the matter.

I have been saying this for months! I HATE how some of the states have abortion banned. I have also had people judge me for having an abortion. My baby’s heart wasn’t formed properly, the brain wasn’t formed properly, there weren’t many things formed properly… so I had to make the difficult decision. It was literally the TOUGHEST decision I have ever had to make. The first month after the abortion is tough, your body has just been through so much and your mood is sh!t.

Bread and I are chill but some of his topics aren’t the best… like this one. I think he is just more interested in the debates tbh. He does come up with some good points in other threads.

Notice the very small percentage of good reasons to abort ie criminal/medical

Notice how none of the options are because I am irresponsible.

Irresponsibility is not a good reason to murder a child

Here is a national survey.

I don't think any woman is going to answer because he promised he would pull out.

None of the reasons above 4% are a good reason to kill a baby

What a woman decides to do with her body is her business not yours. You have no right to impose your views on others. In fact you have no relevant point of view unless you're actually involved and even then, the final decision rests with the woman not you.

You're a troll and I suspect a misogynistic one at that. Get a life outside of chat ffs.

Why isn't baby murder legal?

Since they are attached to the woman's body for 9 months

"One body" "one choice"

Kinda weird how the government recognizes an embryo at any development as human life when it comes to violence but not when it comes to abortion.

The Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004 is a United States law that recognizes an embryo or fetus in utero as a legal victim, if they are injured or killed during the commission of any of over 60 listed federal crimes of violence. The law defines "child in utero" as "a member of the species Homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb."

Foeticide (British English), or feticide (American and Canadian English), is the act of killing a fetus, or causing a miscarriage.[1] Definitions differ between legal and medical applications, whereas in law, feticide frequently refers to a criminal offense,[2] in medicine the term generally refers to a part of an abortion procedure in which a provider intentionally induces fetal demise to avoid the chance of an unintended live birth, or as a standalone procedure in the case of selective reduction.

There's just a fundamental contradiction between being "pro life" and also wanting to ban comprehensive sex education, contraceptives, and insurance coverage of birth control (religious exemption) while being against any natal encouraging economic policy like requiring family leave be available from work places and generally making having a kid more economically feasible with social programs that aren't gutted with austerity everytime there's a budget dispute. Not saying abortion should ever be banned, or there'll never be a necessity, but we should stop ignoring the economic conditions people operate in.

9 out of 10 countries with the highest human development index have legalized the right to an abortion.

There’s a clear correlation between overall welfare and happiness and socially progressive policies, including a woman’s right to an abortion and I’m quite happy to see my country is listed in the top 10.

We’ve always topped the list of countries that are the most progressive. together with the Scandinavian countries, something I’m quite proud of.

I'm simply going to disagree. Even if I'm now considered and "asshat". The simple act of discontinuing a pregnancy for what ever reason you chose. Is Controlling a Birth, by simple definition, abortion is birth control.
The fact that you choose to be pro life or pro choice changes nothing.
I do not know you, so I will not speculate to the fact that you have or have not been in the situation where you had to make that choice. And I hope you never are.
All numbers and percentages aside, looking at it through a religious lens, You were given free will and will answer for that. Looking at it through legal statutes, You do not have the right to tell another person how to exercise their rights.
My view on the matter is simple. I am pro life and would never tell another person to have an abortion. While at the same time I would never tell another adult that they are not allowed to have an abortion.

I actually agree that multiple abortions from the same person should be closely monitored and the person in particular being given 1-to-1 advice about safer sex and counselling where appropriate. Outside of that, there's not much anybody can do about it. Unfortunately, we live in a world where there is no way of controlling unfit parents from having children and contraception isn't compulsory, nor could it ever be introduced as being so.

A lack of education is in many cases an issue where multiple abortions are happening. But the same people screaming anti abortion are also screaming about not wanting their children to have fair sex education that would hopefully guide the young women in a better direction. They're also many groups of society today who are against using contraception but then complain when young women get pregnant and use those same abortion clinics - So exactly how is the issue fixed from those perspectives?

I will never, disagree with abortion being accessible to women. There are plenty of people who are r*ped, or who had one accident in a long time of being sexually active that know being a parent isn't for them, and with our care systems across the world being overloaded with children as is, it's sometimes a much better option to putting a child up for adoption.

Also, in some countries, contraception is a cost many can't afford. Feel lucky to be in the UK where my taxes cover the cost of my contraceptive pill.

Universal healthcare ftw!

Have to agree with @Louize
The issue of when or why there an abortion is much deeper than just right or wrong. There are many factors that need be considered.

If a woman wants to do an abortion, go for it. When she's dealing with the long-term psychological consequences, I can offer no pity.
That's fine, your pity isn't needed. There are professional services for support if it's needed - which it very probably won't be. 50 years of psychological research has this to say:
"More than 50 years of international psychological research shows that having an abortion is not linked to mental health problems, but restricting access to safe, legal abortions does cause harm. Research shows people who are denied abortions have worse physical and mental health, as well as worse economic outcomes than those who seek and receive them."

Here's the source.

The debate posed wasn't pro or anti abortion on a whole... It was repeated abortions... Which again, is mostly linked to a lack of education, a lack of financial ability in procuring preemptive contraception... And a very devil's advocate one, but women's bodies reacting badly to multiple forms of contraception and men refusing to use condoms due to societal pressure and other factors.

There's a reason repeated abortions are most prominent in poorer areas, where education is at its least effective, where money is an issue, and where sex is a free form of entertainment.

Any developed country shouldn't be having this issue on the basis that contraception should be free. Period. So should STI testing.

As a woman, we also face the adverse effects of hormonal contraception, and the pain that comes from having the majority of non hormonal contraception fitted. ****** the horror stories, or the effect it has on our bodies. Then look up the fact that a male pill was stopped production because of less side effects than the female contraceptive pills. Male sexual health is taken way more seriously than women's sexual health.

Even as a woman who has been on the contraceptive pill (where I get it for free because Yay NHS!) I still use condoms until I'm in a committed relationship, and yet there's plenty men who try to talk themselves out of needing to use one (even before knowing I'm on the pill) - a lack of education or less confidence or care for myself might mean I'd let that happen.

A hundred different reasons, and a hundred different topics can be brought into this... That's why there's no simple answer.

Repeated abortions aren’t always linked to a lack of education. What if a woman has been raped multiple times in her lifetime? Can’t force a woman to keep a pregnancy against her wishes. Whichever way you look at it, she should be the one who decides in all cases.

Same reason I’m in favour of active voluntary euthanasia and to my knowledge, we are one of the very few countries who have legalized active voluntary euthanasia where an individual is able to decide for themselves if they want to end their life.

The more I think about the title, the more I think abortion is birth control. However, the debate seems to be about the morality.

I'll just leave this here:

"Birth control and an abortion are different. Birth control prevents pregnancy from happening in the first place. An abortion stops an existing pregnancy.

“There’s a huge difference,” says Sophia Yen, MD, a clinical associate professor of pediatrics at Stanford Medical School. While one prevents pregnancy, the other ends it."

Here's the source

I've already provided one statement from a clinical associate professor of pediatrics. i.e. A medical professional and an expert in her field.

Not enough? Here's another from an institution that specialises in this very subject and outlines the campaign waged by mostly right wing anti-abortion groups to label it a form of birth control to further their political ends:

Contraception Is Not Abortion: The Strategic Campaign of Antiabortion Groups to Persuade the Public Otherwise

It would seem that Bread is doing much the same if - see the blatantly emotional and inflammatory language in the opening statement he made and quoted in the previous post.

It still boils down to this though:

But contraception is not the only form of birth control. Terminating a pregnancy IS controlling the birth. And the majority of abortions preformed are solely preformed for reasons of inconvenience to the mother.

Read the two items I linked. Birth control or contraception is about preventing pregnancy. Abortion is about terminating a pre-existing pregnancy. They aren't the same thing at all.

Anyone who thinks a woman wants to go for a medical intervention whether it's a drug induced miscarriage or a surgical procedure as a means of birth control is only fooling themselves or just mindlessly repeating pro-life dogma. Abortion is an action of last resort.

By definition -- Its in the wording itself -- Birth Control. Controlling a Birth weather before or after conception is still control.

lmfao Bread got banned and then is surprised that no one can have a proper debate on chat ave.

easy forms of birth control, don't have unprotected sex, or don't have sex if you don't want to have a baby or be a father.

the topic of abortion as birth control is fucking stupid, but what the pro-choicers don't understand is a lot of pro-lifers take their stance on choice as meaning that abortion is a simple and cheaper form of birth control and an easy option for an unwanted pregnancy due to the couples lack of using common sense.

and in the end it doesn't matter, because 100 years from now we are all going to be dead.

I have met so many "pro-lifers" who are against contraceptives to prevent pregnancies, universal healthcare for kids, social programs that ensure kids are fed properly, gun control to ensure they aren't killed in their classrooms, and sex education so more unintended pregnancies don't happen. I've also met some who are in support of repealing child labor laws, and some are even against fathers being forced to make child support payments because "the woman was the irresponsible one"?

I don't understand how someone can claim to be pro-life while also being strongly against anything that improves the child's life after they're born.

It comes from the party that only cares about themselves and people or policies that make them money. The Republican speaker just proposed a funding bill for Israel and gutted everything with the IRS so that the rich aren't affected. For decades they've gutted child programs, demonized single mothers, complained about paying taxes to feed unemployed families. Now theyde forcing women to have kids when they know they can't support them.

They need to make up their mind. You can't shame a parent who is struggling telling them they should have been on the pill then ban the pill and force them to have it thus relying on Government assistance.

There are already laws and programs in place to cover all that you mentioned. I'm only pro choice because its not my decision to make for another person but I do believe that birth control for the soul purpose of birth control is just wrong.

The ones that are in place are actively under attack by the same politicians that are making anti-abortion talking points. And "abortion" isn't done as birth control usually; it isn't exactly a pleasant experience for anyone involved. It's often a last resort.

@Radiation All the data being collected supports my statement. More abortions are being preformed simply because the individual just doesn't want to have a child.
The mother would otherwise be forced to have a child they don't want and likely won't care for. Our social system doesn't have the capacity to take care of any more unwanted children than it is already burdened with. I agree that it shouldn't be used as birth control, but I don't think it is an option that should be taken away.

Although I agree it should be an option, because its not my decision to make for another, there are better alternatives like not having sex that could lead to an unwanted child. And before there is outrage that not all sex is consensual I do understand, and there are exceptions to the rule as always.

The treatment for an eptopic pregnancy is an abortion. Something a friend of mine had. The treatment for a septic uterus is an abortion. The treatment for a miscarriage your body won’t release is abortion. If you can’t get that treatment you’ll die. So it’s not simply about birth control. Abortion is a medical procedure for medical issues as well. It’s healthcare and healthcare should be a human right.

I skipped reading all of this to say if you don’t have womb stfu.

There are definitely instances where the mother’s life is put at risk in the absence of an abortion.

It’s not murder. It’s healthcare.

Her body. Her choice.

i mean its not rly healthcare, but i feel u

It’s definitely not murder. Either.

its kind of murder, but not rly at the sametime…

ur sorta killing a developing life, it actually is a living thing even if at the start its just cells going through a rapid kind of mitosis bc its cells that are splitting & combining a trillion times doing its own thing separately from all the other cells in ur body… almost like it is its own being but not rly…

u know?

ppl like to convince themselves that its not alive bc it has no brain waves or heart beat, w.e; but it definitely has an anus, & cord it feeds / breathes through…

look @ it like this u progressive male, u;
parasites & bacteria are living things too, so a fetus regardless of its stage of development should be considered as such too 🤷🏼‍♀️

doesnt matter how u interpret it doe,

bc at the end of the day its inside us, women, that this life develops & so its us who solely has the right to terminate that life… even if it is murder 🖕🏻

i know crazy coming from a texan, but i can just take my lil’ ass to california or new mexico & get an abortion if i has to… which would only happen if im graped, bc im a lil’ bundle of 🪵

I am still of the mindset, that abortion is no one's business on any level.

I detest Hollywood imbeciles; who basically brag that they had an abortion and are fine. Congrats to any woman who has had an abortion and has suffered no mental or physical problems from it afterward and years later.

What those women do not consider are the women who regret having an abortion, or developed mental health issues from it.

What does the opposite side not consider?, that while it is noble to want to protect an innocent life, they are not invested in said woman(s) or couple's life. To be there when the couple or woman, can't afford to care for said child when the child is 10 or 16. etc.

It is a completely emotional argument without any rational thinking behind it, especially the fact no one considers the real issue should be why should the Tax Payer pay anything in regard to either side's position. The entire debate should only be on should tax payer money be given to either side of the argument. And I say no.

Both sides would quickly shut up, if they were not given any government money toward their cause. Legalize abortion 100% in all the states, and then tell the left they have to rely on donations to fund abortions and watch them lose their mind. Same for pro lifers, tell them if they convince a woman to keep her child, then they have to financially support said child until the child turns 18.

Then tell both sides they have to provide mental health counseling if a woman or couple needs it in regard to having an abortion or keeping the child.

Abortion should not be a topic on a public scale. for the simple fact, no one is willing to do the extremely hard work that is necessary.

Same goes for the Roman Catholic Church, if they want to be in the public eye and piss themselves about pro life this and that, tell them to fit the bill for a child until the child is 18, and watch how quick the R.C.C goes, um humuna humuna.

Well it's certainly alive, but where is the line drawn where it's considered a full-fledged human being with rights? Plants are alive. Bacteria are alive. Pigs are alive. But none of those are considered humans with rights.

so 7 months...

if you are that fucking stupid that you can not understand how humans reproduce and are created, vs plants, bacteria, and pigs, you shouldn't vote, drive, or reproduce.

FYI, trees are plants, and guess what, certain trees are protected, even pigs and farm animals, are protected from abuse and harm, so are all animals to a degree. shove firecrackers down a frog's throat and kill it, no one gives a ****, do the same to a dog, cat, or bird, and chances are you going to catch a charge.

Even bacteria have classifications of good and bad, people even take something called, probiotics, wonder what that is, and guess what, that means bacteria have value. All life from start to finish has inherent value and purpose.

If you are going to be pro-choice, at least have enough fucking brain matter to grasp that much, and also try to find enough brain matter that a government has zero business deciding when human life begins, because when you give the government that much power to decide when human life begins; guess what else you open the door to, to the government deciding if it is okay to euthanize a person based on issues such as, age, disability, and health.

The US Government has zero right to determine such things. Nor should the US Government put taxpayer money into such things.

what idiots that jerk off into the idea of, well it is just sperm and egg, and I don't see a heartbeat, i don't see anything that looks human so it aint human, how barbaric and ignorant that train of thought really is, when one simply switches it around to race, back when blacks were being traded as slaves, and were seen as less than human, primitive. The same idiocy happened in our government, of does this person with different colored skin, who is clearly not educated, can not read, or write, etc, does that person have any rights is that person equal to me as a human being, and their answer was no;, To a slave being bold enough to go to court to and have a trial to be given equal rights as a human being and a judge declaring no you do not have rights and the history that in turn followed. ( granted slavery has been a global fact of the world since one people fought another people and took them captive American slavery just gets all the publicity). and what is ironic is the pro-choice movement doesn't even come close to grasping their own idocracy. Then Later having to debate is AIDS only a gay disease? To have to debate should women have the right to vote. Should homosexuals be treated as people?

Scientists have no right to declare when a person is a person and why. Neither does the government.

Religion is barely any better at guiding the human race on such things, they fail over and over in so many ways on this issue when at best any religion would be well and fair to say, in our religion we believe life begins at the moment of conception, it is fair and true to say because it is backed up by natural law that when two humans of the opposite sex come together to reproduce and everything works as it should, holy **** they make a baby, sometimes twins. Wanna debate at what moment twins become twins in the womb, that is a moronic debate to have as well. And swinging back to religion quickly all major religions love to take away peoples' God-given common sense, and God-given right to determine their own fate; their only duty is to teach the values of their religion and at best suggest that people follow their religion. Not damn people to hell or whatever if they do not follow to the T what their religion teaches.

When morons want to stay morons and laugh and have a circle slap fest at how a human is only a human under certain criteria all the rest of us can do is hope they don't reproduce and spread their way of thinking. Those with the patience to want to try to sway them to normalcy should be given a medal.

The next debate is what is common sense, and that is simple, if you have to debate what is common sense, you do not get to have an opinion on it, nor get to hold office in any part of the government.

if you are that fucking stupid that you can not understand how humans reproduce and are created, vs plants, bacteria, and pigs, you shouldn't vote, drive, or reproduce.

I said none of those are considered humans with rights. Are you saying that a yeast infection on your foot has the same rights as you do? It doesn't. Should a human fetus that is early enough in development that it does not have a developed brain or consciousness have the same rights as a fully fledged human?

I agree that the government shouldn't decide when human life begins. It isn't their business. It is exclusively the business of the person carrying the fetus.

I have completely explained my position on the matter. If you are having trouble comprehending what I said, that is not my problem. If you agree or disagree with me, I honestly do not care. And I do not play grab ass.
